Aquarius in the 2nd House: Rewriting the Rules of Wealth

Aquarius in the second house (or, more correctly, ‘on’ the cusp of the second house), adds originality, flare and an ethical approach to professional and financial matters as well as personal ethics and values. 

Here are the innovators and inventors; the visionaries in business, at work and at home. They’re the people who have off-beat, yet intelligent and useful ideas and solutions. Quirky and sociable as they are, they color their homes, and workplaces, with pizzazz, humour and originality.

Personal Wealth

Sudden financial changes may be experienced with this placement. For example the abrupt loss of a job, or a sudden loss of money, perhaps to a clever scam may occur. Uranus, the ruling planet, is said to be responsible for sudden fluctuations as it’s associated with instability and eccentricity. But Aquarius is clever and quick so these people usually find smart solutions to any obstacles that come their way.

Whatever they do for a living, it must be ethical. It also needs to allow them to be their authentic selves, and provide them with plenty of freedom. Feeling forced to do things including behaving in an inauthentic way, just won’t work for them. They’ll flee before getting another job!

While those with Capricorn rising are normally interested in wealth creation, even from a young age but Aquarius is more interested in its process. As I mentioned earlier, this sign isn’t hugely focused on making money. Stability and security are found more in having the luxury of embarking on thrilling intellectual pursuits and being able to afford all sorts of unique and technologically advanced things to fill their homes, hearts and minds with. It also comes from the confidence in their innovative ideas and intellectual prowess.

But, of course, we all need a certain level of wealth in order to live and enjoy our time on Earth. And so, these people work like everyone else, however, their focus seems to remain on working to live rather than the other way around.

Air

The intellectual acuity these people have serves them well in establishing and managing their finances and overall material wealth. However, their refreshingly light-hearted view of money extends far beyond the material. They don’t simply wish to build their bank account. Here, money is used to fund a mentally invigorating, independent and autonomous lifestyle; one that is filled with adventure, travel, innovation and exploration.

Something I really love about this combination, other than the matching qualities, is that these people tend to have a broad understanding of their worth. Instead, it’s more dependant upon their intellectual capability, their originality, their creative ideas and their contribution to humanity. 

They feel content and nurtured in careers that allow for the exploration of new and interesting ideas. For instance, in tech and science. Entrepreneurship is also a wonderful choice of career because it allows them to explore fields that haven’t been created yet!

I think it should be noted that if one of the dominant signs in the birth chart is Aquarius, that means a good deal of fixed energy is present. The fixed signs of the zodiac are Taurus, Leo, Scorpio, Aquarius (one sign from each element is fixed). Fixed energy is characterized by determination, steadfastness and persistence. 

People with a high amount of fixed energy in their birth chart see things through to completion and don’t like to give up easily. However, their persistence can also mean stubbornness and a resistance to change. Aquarius, however, as mentioned earlier, is not at all resistant to change.
