Scorpio in 2nd House: Wealth Woven with Intensity

There’s a strong healing element to the work these people carry out. Because of this, they often make very good doctors, nurses, psychologists, and alternative therapists like hypnotherapists. An income may also be obtained through mystical healing work like past life healing or mediumship (which helps the living to heal by connecting with their loved ones who have passed to Spirit).

Since this is the sign of the detective, forensic, detective or police work is often undertaken. Or some other form of work that allows them delve to the very bottom of mysteries and manage challenging or emotional situations.

Since Scorpio rules the genitals, it should be mentioned that their work could alternatively be of a sexual nature. Domination in particular could be of interest to them.

Similarly to those with Aries in the 2nd, these natives enjoy working without too many constraints. They don’t deal with being controlled very well! They need to be free and in complete control of their lives. They work exceptionally hard to become financially independent and thoroughly enjoy their lives on their own terms. They love having enough in the bank to allow for things like fun vacations, fine dining, beautiful clothing and jewellery and delicious food.

Owing to the highly enigmatic nature of Scorpio, they can be remarkably secretive about what they do for a living. I have Cancer in the 2nd house — another hush hush water sign — and I’m fairly quiet about being an astrologer because it’s unorthodox and some people can be very critical about it.

But I know someone with this placement who is so private about his job that I have absolutely no idea what he does for a living. “Something online” is his usual response whenever I ask him, which isn’t often. This could, of course, mean pretty much anything.

I think most people find this level of secrecy a bit odd unless they have strong Scorpio placements themselves, in which case, they’re more likely to understand. If they are private about what they do, it’s probably best to not poke them about it too much — they won’t happy about being pushed.

Physical Belongings

Scorpio in this house means a very potent attachment to objects that are laden with sentimental value. Family heirlooms, gifts from beloved friends and family, and objects that hold meaning for other reasons are absolutely cherished — frequently until death. Considering this strong emotional attachment, hoarding is a possibility but the risk is usually higher in older people who have had a lifetime of collecting all kinds of lovely things.

Their most valuable items may not be kept on display, though. Expensive objects like expensive antiques and even sentimental items are likely to be kept squirrelled away somewhere out of view. This could be down to them not trusting others not to steal or break them or perhaps they may worry that others may become jealous and give them the ‘evil eye’.

Being a sign associated with mysticism and the occult, many of these people are drawn to mystical items like tarot cards, crystals rune stones, and so on.

Security

Becoming financially secure makes them feel safe. They know that money equals power. It provides anyone who has it with the ability to live and work as they see fit.

At work, they often prefer to be in charge. Oftentimes, they make strong, determined, self-assured, supportive and protective leaders but they must be obeyed. They feel awfully aggrieved when others don’t take them seriously or follow their instructions. Some may project their need for power and authority onto their colleagues or employees.

They could be inclined to tell their staff what to do even if they know they won’t like it simply to remind them who is in charge. It would be a good move to guard against this sort of behavior because it won’t be appreciated and they may eventually become unpopular.

Infrequently, they may choose to avoid talking about what makes them feel secure for fear of others tampering with their sense of security in some way.

Self Worth

Self assurance tends to come naturally here. They know how much they’re worth and they won’t settle for something — or someone — that doesn’t meet their standards, like a job or a friend.

This isn’t to say that their self belief is unshakable but that they are at least aware of their own worth and often hold themselves in high esteem. They don’t allow others to mistreat them and they don’t pay much attention to gossip or negative commentary. Push them too far, however, and they will make their dissatisfaction known — with force and intensity.

Personal Values and Ethics

Loyalty, honesty and authenticity are all highly valued here. They normally posses all of these qualities themselves but if not, they really appreciate seeing them in others and strive to acquire them.

People who overcome and learn from challenging and/or painful situations are held in high regard by them. They may have faced plenty of their own hurdles but at the same time, they greatly value the emotional and spiritual growth that often comes from overcoming them.

As they are shrewd with their money and resources, they are also shrewd with how much of themselves they give to others. They are private people and they like others who respect their need for privacy. No matter how much self-esteem they have, they are always be careful about their interactions with others and keep a close eye on how much time and energy they give away.

Skills and Talents

Mysteries intrigue them and they are highly skilled at solving them. They love to unpick strange and convoluted situations that at first glance make no sense — at least to the average Joe. And they don’t have to work in forensics to be good at doing this, either. They just have a knack for figuring things out. I knew a grandmother in the 1990s who could always spot, without fail, who the killer was in any program — real or fictional — on the TV. It was uncanny!

In their spare time, they often enjoy playing games like chess or putting puzzles together or playing video games which are won once something is found, like a token or key.

They are also naturally adept at understanding spiritual matters and may possess inborn spiritual wisdom. A lot of people whose birth charts feature Scorpio often incarnate with plenty of wisdom from Spirit. And they also know how to use it for good — or bad depending on how they are oriented.

For example, Jeffery Dahmer used his mysterious nature to enchant young men and lure them back to his apartment where he killed them. On the other hand, Mahatma Ghandi is regarded as one of the kindest and most spiritually aware people who has ever lived.

Dominant Element

The elements in astrology are fire earth, air and water. Most people will have one element that is dominant in their birth chart and it may not be the same as any of their ‘big three’ (Sun, Moon and Ascendant). In fact, it often isn’t… For example, the Sun sign could be Aquarius and the Moon sign Capricorn but the dominant element could be water if enough of it is present elsewhere in the chart. Knowing how the 2nd house gels with your dominant element can shed further light on your personality, considering how important this house is (I’d say that it’s the most important house after the 1st — which is the Ascendant).

Fire Dominant

The combination of fire and Scorpio creates a uniquely passionate personality with phenomenal drive and a powerful work ethic. Both fire and Scorpio are intense, driven, forceful energies.

These people are doers and they make things happen. They don’t sit around waiting for opportunities to come to them. Goal setting comes naturally and they thrive on their way to accomplishing them, often becoming excited at beating any competition along the way. 

If Aries is a dominant sign, competition crushing will be a priority but they should watch out for getting bored of things too quickly and moving on to the next exciting thing.

The law of attraction works for everyone but when you combine it with action, which is abundant in fire types, it really adds fuel to the creation process and things can materialize much faster. If Sagittarius is a dominant sign, they will be naturally skilled at understanding how manifestation works and will use this knowledge to their advantage.

These natives love long and hard and that includes objects that hold meaning for them. The more meaning they hold, the closer they keep them and carefully cherish and look after them. 

If Leo is a dominant sign, they will feel particularly warm and fuzzy about gifts from loved ones and guard them until their death. That said, hoarding things they love could become problematic if they allow them to pile too high.

I’m close to someone who is Leo dominant with this house. They have kept every single stuffed animal that has ever come into their possession! Their home is overflowing with cute things. In almost every room there’s a bunch of Care Bears, plastic animals, googly-eyed puppets or Barbie dolls staring back at you! 

Earth Dominant

These individuals are very work oriented. They can be very intense about their work and about making money — and keeping it. They are typically good at saving and investing and many begin as soon as they start earning.

Practical about money and sensible when spending it, they can work quickly up the career ladder whatever their occupation is. They are typically extremely serious about making progress in the world of work so they are often studious and frequently top of their class. 

Whatever they pick as a career, they will strive to learn as much as possible to become top in their field. And at work, while they don’t necessarily need to be liked, they absolutely need to be respected, and preferably admired, especially if Capricorn is dominant. 

The potential downside with this astrological combination is that they are the sort of people who could become over qualified for jobs if they focus too long in academia, piling qualification on top of qualification and not taking enough action to make their dreams come true.

Their familial responsibilities are always taken seriously and they work hard to build a stable home environment and future for themselves and their children (if they have any). 

Becoming swamped in sentimental items at home is common here as it also is with Taurus, Cancer and Leo in the 2nd house. If Taurus is a dominant sign, this tendency is especially pronounced. Holding onto a few key pieces that have the most meaning or have the highest intrinsic value could help curb this inclination. 

Air Dominant

This combination enjoys intellectual challenges at work. In fact, the more mental gymnastics involved, the better! Unlike earth dominant individuals, they cannot ever be content with mundane or repetitive work just for the sake of holding down a job and raking in a salary to ensure the mortgage gets paid on time.

Their minds (and tongues) need a daily workout otherwise they risk losing their marbles — or at least boiling over with frustration and boredom! Their sharp, analytical brains allow them to delve deeply into the most complex issues and untangle them. Calling them things like intelligent, resourceful, articulate and rational is very flattering to them because they enjoy their intellect being recognized and appreciated. 

Air types could have streaks of genius but they should be careful not to overthink things. They can spend too much time in their heads and barely notice that hours have gone by without much productivity taking place.

These individuals don’t often become warm and fuzzy at the thought of packing their homes full of sentimental keepsakes, toys and gifts. However, they are much more likely to cherish and keep some things that have meaning for them and will fervently guard them.

Water Dominant

These people approach work related matters with their intuition fully switched on. Before undertaking a new job, career or project they will take the time to assess what they intuitively feel about it. If something feels wrong to them and they can avoid it, they will steer well clear. 

Their advanced intuition — or outright psychic ability — frequently helps them to avoid negative people, places and situations. They have an amazing knack for making good and fruitful financial choices based on gut feeling alone. This is particularly true if Scorpio or Pisces is dominant although all of the water signs are known to be exceptionally perceptive.

Careers that are involve healing are particularly suited to them. It’s so important for these people to experience an emotionally rewarding career, no matter what they do. Money, however, is also important and the Cancer and Scorpio dominant types will be particularly good at making and managing it. 

Family is everything to these types and one of the biggest reasons they like to earn a lot of money is to support their families and give them good lives. They also feel safest and most secure when they reach a certain level of income and have bought their forever home, which is preferably in a quiet, peaceful, safe location. 

And finally, these people just love their stuff! They are comforted by being surrounded by the things they like best and that includes their sentimental possessions. Beware anyone who steals, breaks or mocks their beloved bits and pieces!
