Aquarius in 5th House: Quirky Romance and Original Creativity

Creativity

These natives enjoy showcasing their creativity through original and unconventional ideas and are often draw to interesting avant-garde concepts, cutting-edge tech, and futuristic elements in their creative pursuits. Their sense of personal style is often highly creative, non-conformist, and stands out from mainstream norms.

Their hobbies — and they probably have plenty of them — may also be somewhat unconventional. A man I dated in my late teens had this placement. He was one of the quirkiest people I’ve ever met. He collected and repaired false teeth, played the banjo despite being exceedingly British, and enjoyed buying and selling retro video games for extra income even though he was well over forty.

Many of these people are interested in technology and the future and that could be reflected in their hobbies and creative work. Oftentimes, these people have subscriptions to tech publications like Wired and American Scientist. Aquarius is known for being innovative, logical and very intelligent so in some cases, these individuals could produce work that helps to push humanity forward.

Their individuality shines through their creations — from their home decor to the food they make, and everything in between. They may unconsciously defy convention with their own unique take on creative projects. Their ideas are occasionally highly innovative, or even genius, and some could even benefit humanity in some way.

Collective projects including charity work, community based art, and other collaborative efforts may be particularly exciting and fulfilling for them. Brainstorming in a group setting with like minded people also stimulates them as they thoroughly enjoy picking other people’s brains for new ideas or perspectives.

Self-Expression

Being quirky and different is unavoidable for those with this placing. They can’t stand conventionality in themselves, and oftentimes in others too. When they were in school they probably rebelled against wearing their uniform because that meant wearing what everyone else was wearing and that made it difficult for their individuality to be expressed.

As this is an air sign, they may be quite talkative, expressive, and use hand gestures when speaking to emphasize what they’re saying. They are, however, good listeners too. Although they have strong, fixed opinions because Aquarius is a fixed sign, they’re still interested in hearing what others have to say on virtually anything. Expressing themselves in group settings or with their friends is therefore enjoyable for them as it allows for the flow of different thoughts and ideas.

Given the signs association with tech, they may find it particularly rewarding to express themselves through digital platforms, social media, and other technological mediums. They often wholeheartedly embrace new media and innovative digital tools which allows them to communicate their various ideas.

Romance and Relationships

People who are significantly different from them in some way intrigue them. For example, their personality or outlook on life may be refreshingly original, or the way they look, their style or their demeanour may be unique. Or perhaps they’re especially wealthy or famous and that makes them stand out from the crowd.

In terms of personality, they’re generally drawn to intelligent, open-minded, outspoken people who are ethical and feel strongly about human rights and/or the environment. Those who have strong opinions also attract them, even if they’re very different to theirs because they admire their confidence to freely speak their mind. Those who lack self confidence or who are average in most ways probably won’t stand much of chance at capturing their attention.

They may be keen to forge a strong friendship with someone before deciding whether or not to have a romantic relationship with them. Or they may find that they naturally fall in love with a longtime good friend of theirs and that becomes their longest and most successful relationship.

In a longterm relationship, they need to retain their freedom but they also enjoy seeing their partner experience their own freedom. They take no pleasure or pride in controlling their partner or in being controlled by them. If they feel the relationship is too restrictive, they might split. In addition, they need to respect their partner and to some extent, look up to them, so their lover must be intelligent and have integrity.

This placement also indicates interest in exploring unconventional relationships. Their views are likely to be progressive or at least contrary to what society upholds. Societal expectations are often happily ignored in favor of doing whatever suits them. Considering this, they might be part of a throuple for instance or perhaps they’re happy to live with someone for the rest of their lives without getting married. Their romantic connections may also begin and end abruptly thanks to the unpredictable nature of the sign’s ruling planet, Uranus

They may take risks in expressing their affections in unique and unexpected ways, preferring to stand out rather than conform to conventional romantic norms. One man I dated with Aquarius in the 5th had a habit of turning up outside my halls of residence late at night when I was a student. He’d stand on the pavement outside and shout quotes from old black and white movies up at my bedroom window from the street. I loved it but he got some really funny looks from people passing by!

Similarly to Virgo types, they can be idealistic in love and feel let down if their partner doesn’t live up to their high standards. They may also feel as if they can always be better and criticize themselves, even if they’re doing well in their relationship and their partner is perfectly satisfied with them. I think they’d do well to accept that nothing in life is perfect and that it’s more important to just press on with things. Being idealistic just wastes a lot of time and energy!

Children and Parenthood

These parents want their kids to have plenty of freedom, including the freedom to express themselves however they wish. They encourage critical thinking and open-mindedness. They seldom impose their own opinions on their children, instead encouraging them to form their own — and to freely voice them. A great deal of focus is normally placed on their learning and on obtaining qualifications, especially in technical fields.

Their children may have Aquarius prominent in their birth charts and may be rather different in some way. For instance, they may have unusual interests. They may also think very differently and seek to defy convention and perhaps also certain types of authority, rebelling against rules from a young age.

Some may bore easily in school, being intellectually ahead of their peers or maybe they’re uninterested in the subjects being taught. They may be quite popular in school or prefer to spend time with a few close but trusted friends. They be drawn to join a subculture.

As adults, their children may work in Aquarian fields likes science, tech, and human resources. However, this sign is also associated with the weird and wonderful so they may be drawn to unorthodox careers like alternative health practitioner, experimental artist, space tourism, or alternative lifestyle blogger to name just a few.

Recreation and Entertainment

Recreation for them involves activities that promote sustainability and environmental awareness. This could include outdoor activities, eco-friendly events, or engaging in projects that contribute to a cleaner, greener planet. A friend of mine with this placement frequently goes to climate change lectures and talks by the Green Party (a UK political party).

Virtual and online communities also offer them enjoyment and respite from the world. Being social, they may find online places where they can connect with other like-minded souls and talk about the things that interest them including the latest tech, games, and niche hobbies.

The friend I mentioned earlier introduced me to the virtual reality computer game, Second Life in the late 1990s. She was a huge fan of it back then and while her interest has waned considerably over the years, mine has grown — probably because my Moon sign is Aquarius.

Clubs and group activities are especially mentally stimulating for them. These are the sort of people who belonged to numerous different clubs in high school. As older adults, they could be members of a rambler’s club, tennis club, chess club, or perhaps groups that visit interesting places like National Trust sites in the UK.

They find experimental arts and performances fascinating and beautiful although almost anything that’s different or otherworldly, piques their interest. Attending such events which push creative boundaries appeals to their sense of novelty and their need to explore offbeat ideas.

They’re drawn to progressive and quirky movies, TV shows, and books etc. Anything that pushes boundaries and challenges current norms also interests them as does exploring pertinent social issues.

Venturing Into the Unknown

Unusual projects interest them. For example, buying a large abandoned house in the middle of nowhere and renovating it could sound like a very welcome challenge — and risk. Almost any project that challenges traditional norms is at least worth looking into, as they see it.

If they are young, they may be interested in investing in environmental projects and perhaps not be too fussed about seeing a good return as their focus would be on helping the planet and other people.
