Scorpio in 6th House: Alchemy of Work and Will
Work and Employment
Providing their work aligns with their genuine desires, these natives are intensely passionate about it. They can become so immersed in their work that it becomes a large part of their personal identity. Take me as an example. As an astrologer with Scorpio in the 6th, I virtually live and breathe astrology! When I’m not writing articles for Stars and Paths Astrology, I’m reading astro books, listening to astro podcasts or attending astro conferences. It’s fabulous because I get to study my obsession and make a living at the same time!
These people have the ability to work with tremendous focus and concentration, almost like a laser-beam. They can also work very efficiently and with great determination to succeed. Known for their unwavering dedication, they consistently meet their deadlines and oftentimes exceed the expectations of others with the thoroughness of their work.
Their work may require a great deal of integrity and they may feel a strong responsibility to produce the best work possible that will be in the highest good for all concerned. For those of a positive vibration, it would feel very wrong to produce something that manipulates or otherwise negatively affects others. Personally, as an astrologer, I feel that it’s my responsibility to produce genuinely helpful content that comes from a good place.
Some of these people are secretive about what they do for a living or else a bit hesitant to share too much about it. Others might find that a bit strange or annoying but they’re simply protecting themselves — especially if their work is unorthodox or is likely to attract criticism.
Until recently only my family and closest friends knew I was an astrologer. I really didn’t want people to know because even by today’s standards, it’s still viewed as a strange career choice. Some may think I’m spreading misinformation. That being said, even when I was a graphic designer, I was still quiet about the details of my work such as who my clients were and how much I made. I just felt that sharing too much about what I did for a living was too personal…
Self-employment is preferred here which is just as well considering how intense they are about their work and how driven and focused they are. They may be too intense to work harmoniously with others in a setting like an office. As bosses, they need their employees to remain hyper focused and serious about their assignments. Sure, that’s a tall order but they won’t accept anything less than that!
Being very observant in the workplace, they’re often good judges of character and intuit who would make a good employee and who wouldn’t. They also need to feel their employees have their best intentions at heart and are overall decent people. An interviewee could have an amazing résumé but if their intuition is telling them something’s off, they’ll trust it and steer away.
Help from numerous women may be received at work, such as relatives investing or educating them on how to run a lucrative enterprise. Even if they do receive a good deal of help from others, however, they don’t take things for granted and know that life doesn’t just happen — the work must be put in. Personally, I’m a firm believer in the Law of Attraction but I think that action and effort needs to be put in to make stuff happen. Dreams can come to pass with ease and grace, but action of some kind must still be taken. Even winning the lottery jackpot requires the purchase of a ticket, intention setting and visualisation.
Their role must feel right to them and offer them the dignity, respect, joy, mental stimulation, and salary they deserve. If something is missing and they aren’t happy, they may never really give it their all and feel chronically unfulfilled. Eventually, they’ll get out of there and pursue something a job that makes their heart sing (and to hell with anything less).
Service to Others and Responsibilities
They tend to be serious and occasionally intense about their responsibilities, whether personal or professional. More than is possible to do may be piled onto their plate to make sure they’re doing a thorough job and being as helpful as possible.
Transformation is strongly linked to Scorpio so those who are spiritually inclined may be interested in helping others grow spiritually. Some may even see it as their personal responsibility to be of service to others in this way.
Having any fixed sign on the cusp of the 6th indicates difficulty in letting go of their responsibilities and duties once they are no longer necessary. They tend to keep a tight grip on the things that made them feel safe, valued, and appreciated, which is understandable but not always appropriate or beneficial for them.
Trivial Matters and Solving Problems
Minor setbacks can really rock them, depending on what they are. Conversations and disagreements are sometimes mentally replayed and analysed. They may find it hard to forget and let go of small matters that upset them. As an example, when I was in my twenties and living alone, a neighbor who was usually friendly, would occasionally be rude and standoffish. His unpredictable behavior really irritated me. One evening, he berated me for vacuuming in the hallway. It was really upsetting so I ignored him after that. Luckily, I moved out shortly after but I couldn’t bring myself to be friendly with him again.
Scorpio is known for it’s strong need and uncanny ability to effectively get to the bottom of things. If they can identify why someone behaved the way they did or why a situation occurred, that will help them to problem solve. If, for whatever reason, they cannot completely understand something, they may probably struggle to make sense of matters and it could hinder their ability to gain closure.
Daily Routine and General Order
Mundane day to day life cannot be tolerated. Some excitement or magic needs to experienced every day. Of course, that’s subjective; what excites one person may bore another. It just has to exist to prevent them from becoming unbearably bored and restless and thirsting for something more from life.
These people detest not living up their potential and may harshly criticise themselves for wasting their time. Organization is key to getting the most out of each day so they tend to be good at it. They may be obsessive list-makers and follow strict routines. I have Gemini rising in combination with Scorpio in the 6th so my focus becomes amplified and I make to-do lists every single day to make sure I get everything done.
Activities associated with Scorpio may be carried out on a daily basis. These might include watching true crime shows, paranormal shows, doing Tarot, reading books on subjects that expose the root cause of things like disease, or exploring spiritual subjects.
Pets
Deep, intense and lasting bonds are frequently formed between them and their pets. They feel as if they can understand their pet on a profound level and vice versa. My cat feels very much like my daughter. She tends to look at me with love and I feel a really strong connection to her, as if no one else feels the way about their cat. But, of course, they absolutely do!
They feel a special connection with them, as if they are a soulmate or a spirit guide incarnate. Some people believe cats can act as temporary hosts to spirits so they can spend time with their loved ones on Earth again.
They also feel extremely protective, if not overprotective, of them. I have a cousin with this placement and she has a beautiful Pomeranian that can perform the most amazing tricks. She’s been told so many times that she could make a killing on social media with videos of him but feels that would expose him too much to the world. I get that.
Self Improvement and Wellbeing
The mind-body connection is particularly significant here. Negative thoughts and feelings should ideally be swiftly and effectively removed in order to prevent issues with well-being cropping up. One method of negative emotion removal for consideration is Dr Bradley Nelson’s The Emotion Code. The book claims that emotions can become trapped within us and it demonstrates, in a practical way, how they may be removed.
In some extreme cases, they may become obsessed with their physical or emotional well-being perhaps focusing on and fearing one particular thing. As mentioned earlier, I have this placement and for a while in my teens I became oddly fearful of ingrowing toenails after being told by a doctor that it was a possibility after badly stubbing my big toe. This fixation lasted for years as I kept worrying about it. My toe and toenail healed perfectly well and nothing bad happened…
Self improvement feels like a natural part of life to them. It’s something they’re inspired to pursue thanks to the sign’s inherent need for transformation. The way they seek self-improvement varies from person to person but under the influence of this sign, they may be drawn to religion or alternative practices such as energy healing, spiritual group retreats, challenging or meditation.
