Natal Moon in Aries: A Fiercely Passionate Yet Childlike Heart

Time and time again when I discuss this placement with fellow astrologers, there are a few things that we agree on completely. These things are that these natives are intensely passionate and fiercely proactive leaders who are prone to being impulsive and reactionary. If they can learn to master their impulsive nature (which many do) there’s no limit to what they can achieve. 

It’s so enjoyable to see those with this placement succeed in a fair and measured manner. They can be of great help to humanity through their positive words and actions.

General Characteristics

Nobody could ever accuse someone with this placement of being uninspired or a wishy-washy. Their fiery, tenacious and determined Mars infused emotional nature means that they’re always on the go and ready to wholeheartedly embrace the next challenge. Rarely are they in the same place or seated for too long; they get itchy feet when they aren’t doing something.

Their gut instinct is exceptionally accurate and others might comment on how they often predict events correctly and accurately analyse people’s personalities. 

Their emotions are powerful and run deep. As such, they tend to have strong likes and dislikes; if they really like someone, they will know it and if not, well, they will also know it… Unlike lunar Virgos and Capricorns, lunar Ariens simply cannot be stoic. Their feelings must be expressed without restraint.

They tend to feel that life is something to move forward in, always. Their  general approach to life is uncomplicated, direct and sometimes even dauntless. Challenges don’t phase them. In fact, they inspire them and light them up. They love action and want to be wherever it is. Preferring to be constantly on the go and stimulating their mind, they find things to do and create challenges for themselves.

Aries is also the first sign in the zodiac system and is therefore widely regarded as the youngest. This can occasionally manifest as impulsivity and impetuousness. Tantrums are not unheard of with this placement and by far the most negative trait is being quick to anger.

Extremely driven and enthusiastic, virtually no challenge is too much to accept and being competitive, they enjoy the process — and will very likely win! They are intensely driven, skilled, confident and largely fearless. They pursues their goals largely unfazed by external forces like criticism and doubt from others. Yet their passionate and highly emotional personality may also mean they can come off as a bit too intense at times.

And yet, as emotional and intuitive as they are, most people with this placement are very straight-forward, forthright and uncomplicated. Whatever they decide to go out and conquer, they can, as long as they stick to it. This placement is known for losing interest quickly so picking something that deeply interests them should help to hold their attention.

Upbringing

If the natal Moon in is particularly positively aspected, their upbringing may have had a remarkably intelligent, capable, dynamic and robust mother (or primary caregiver). She probably encouraged them to experience as much as possible and have copious amounts of fun and freedom while receiving a good education. She knew that setting her child up with skills would help them to survive and thrive in their adult years.

That said, this Moon placement may indicate a challenging relationship with the mother. While she was self sufficient, energetic and confident, she may have held her child at arm’s length for fear of losing her independence. This distance may have encouraged her child to become quite independent from an early age.

As her child grew older, she found it more enjoyable to spend quality time with them as her beloved autonomy was returning to her. Mother and offspring may have therefore forged a much deeper bond later on in life. 

Issues with the father are also associated with this placement, though. He may have had a surprisingly short fuse. Discipline and structure may have been prominent. One or both parents may have been rather controlling or over protective. They may have expected too much from their child, which they found overwhelming at times.

Home Environment

Preferring to be on the go most of the time, their home is more like a base where they can relax, have fun, and nourish themselves. If they have children, it doubles as a safe, secure and organized space where they can be raised without being too concerned for their safety and wellbeing.

If they’re trapped at home for lengthy periods, they get antsy and restless. They like they should be doing something —anything! They might compensate for this by doing gardening or DIY around the home, or working overtime from home. Being intensely competitive, they can feel like they’re losing out on life when they’re at home for too long.

Physically demanding activities around the home like DIY, gardening, or working out on gym equipment are enjoyable to them. As long as they have some sort of work space, like a desk, shed, man/woman cave or better still, workshop, to potter and tinker in, they will be happy. If they can fit some workout equipment in there too, all the better!

Arien types tend to enjoy rich, dark colors like burgundy and violet. Design and architecture from the medieval period is especially appealing. Their ideal home may be a castle! Many are drawn to dark, alluring and mysterious decor so it may be that their home is quite dark inside. It may even be complete with swords mounted on the walls, especially antique ones made from wrought iron.

Almost anyone is welcome into their home as long as they can hold an interesting conversation and are willing to listen to them talk, sometimes at great length, about their interests and life. They are generally accepting of others and enjoy chatting about all sorts of things. Being highly sociable, they like to keep up with friends and family.

Work and Career 

Pro astrologers don’t normally look at the Moon sign to determine a suitable career. That said, if these natives follow their heart, they’ll opt for a job where they call the shots. If being self-employment or in a managerial role is not possible, a role in which they feel respected and relatively free in will also do. They cannot bear to work for someone or a group of people who they don’t respect. If they consider their superiors incompetent, weak or fickle, they will likely quit asap.

Following their heart’s desires, a career that entails much action and preferably challenges and adventure would be ideal. Many scientists and engineers have this placement. A more physically challenging career may also suit them like sport, dance or acting. 

Not the sort to back down during conflict, they fight for whatever they think is fair and beneficial at work, whether for themselves or for others. They find it hard to watch others being treated poorly unless they don’t respect them. With colleagues, they are usually good fun and they admire their boisterous spirit, candour, high energy level and can-do attitude. They are probably the person they go to for help and smart, actionable advice.

If they can avoid the negative traits associated with Aries like intensity, selfishness and impatience, they can overcome virtually any obstacle or challenge with their outstanding courage and tenacity and rise up to reach tremendous success. 

Interests

Physical activity (very much including sexual activity) is a primary interest. They aren’t built for sitting around! Keen sport enthusiasts, they feel they need to get up and do things and move or exercise regularly in order to maintain a sense of mental and physical wellbeing.

Arien / Mars sports like fencing, karate, and wrestling also intrigue them. Typically, the more challenging something is, the more it appeals so they should be careful when assessing risk.

Being quite curious and childlike at heart, virtually everything interests them. This is, in part, what makes them so interesting and intriguing. Essentially anything that offers up a challenge will attract their attention. This could be an engineering project, DIY work, or creating something new from scratch. If the can compete with others in some way, all the better as they just love a chance to win. And their drive, intellect and fierce ambition mean they usually do!

They’re seriously dextrous so working with their hands is particularly appealing. This sign is known for its love of metal and metal work but they might also like jewellery making, woodworking and crafts to name a few.

Friendship

Wonderfully enthusiastic, effusive and expressive, they make interesting and inspiring friends. They wear their heart on their sleeve with their dearest friends. They find it easy to tell them how much they mean to them. 

Those who they really love can expect to be treated to frequent displays of generosity, affection and warmth. An Arien friend is a steadfast and loyal one, possibly even more so than they are in relationships (or at least until they find “the one”). They are there for their friends no mater what, eager and willing to help in any way they can.

They enjoy having friends who are like them; upbeat, outgoing, fiery and dynamic.

Their friends should expect them to always speak their mind. If anything is bothering them, they would be very hard pressed to keep their feelings and opinions to themselves. Having an unquenchable thirst for adventure and passion means that they’re always on the lookout for a grand romantic challenge. Falling in love at first sight is a strong Arien trait. And yet, as quickly and as deeply as they fall for someone, they can also un-fall! They are, after all, at heart, a warrior and a conqueror and sometimes the thrill of the chase is more interesting than the relationship that follows it. That said, being with someone who they deeply desire and respect and are compatible with will ensure their union lasts and lasts.

They tend to be attracted to people who are like them — strong minded, strong willed, energetic, upbeat characters. Those with child-like enthusiasm have an even greater advantage with them as they enjoy playing and having fun with their partner. There’s usually plenty of laughter and joking around along with some light-hearted play fighting.

Parenting

On the one hand, they throughly enjoy the company of children being somewhat childlike themselves. They relish in playing with them; all the running around after them and frequent giggling makes them feel happy. On the other hand, the responsibility and commitment that inevitably comes with having children can make them feel a little suffocated or overwhelmed.  

As a parent, they’re very protective and energetic. While they might spend the majority of their time outside of the home, when they return, they’re happy to chase them around, jump about, play and shout. Being quite childlike themselves, they can really let go with them and this is wonderfully heart-warming for child and parent alike. They can be little too laid back though. Their children might have too much freedom without enough discipline.
