Sagittarius in the 7th Astrological House:
With all the things that life regularly throws at us, life can be incredibly challenging. Sometimes, facing it with a good partner can make a world of difference. But we don’t all want or need a partner. Some of us are content to be single for lots of reasons. For those who do want to find a life partner, the 7th astrological house can provide a bit of insight into the type of partner we could eventually settle down and build a life together with. The 7th primarily indicates what sort of partner we are likely to have our most significant relationships with.
The 7th house is viewed as one of the most crucial houses in astrology because for so many people, romantic relationships are so incredibly important. There are many more areas of life which fall under this house but most people, and astrologers, study it for this particular reason. The 7th is also known as the Descendent although that term is mostly used by professional astrologers, especially in the material they publish. It’s also referred to as the “house of marriage” and the “house of partnerships”, rather than anything other avenue of life that falls under its jurisdiction.
Astrologers tend to look at how each partner’s, or prospective partner’s houses relate to one another in order to determine compatibility. Of course, there’s a lot more for them to examine astrologically but this house is considered very important in predicting how two people will get on in their longterm relationship or marriage. Before I continue, I want to mention that I have this placement so I’ve included some of my own personal experiences to illustrate some points about it.
Qualities Sought in a Partner
These people are naturally attracted to those who embody Sagittarian energy. This means that they could have a Sagittarius Sun sign but they also may not. Instead, they could have a Sagittarius Moon, Rising or Mercury sign. Alternatively, they could have a lot of 9th house energy in their chart. Or else, other astrological factors may be influencing them to behave in a rather Sagittraian manner.
These people need a partner who is intelligent and knowledgable. This doesn’t necessarily mean that they have to have lots of formal qualifications but the do need to be naturally clever. They are almost instantly put off those who they perceive to be lacking mental acuity. They are totally turned on by someone who has above average intelligence and general knowledge. They find it really endearing when their partner suddenly regurgitates some fun fact that they picked up somewhere in their past.
Being with someone who is competent and exceptionally intelligent, and preferably educated, makes them feel safe as well as happy. They need someone who stimulates them mentally and challenges them intellectually.
Dull and sullen people also turn them off. Laughter and a light-hearted attitude is also important. They need to have a fabulous sense of humour and not take life too seriously. Jokes, including practical ones, are very much welcomed and help to create a heart warming exchange between them. The atmosphere in the home they share with their partner should feel upbeat and carefree. A positive attitude Partner could be exceptionally intelligent, knowledgable, emotional intelligence is also very important to them as they need to feel understood by their partner. They also need to possess powerful intuition. However, no one is perfect and if they had to choose between someone who was book smart and someone who had a high emotional IQ, they might opt for the person who is book smart. A positive, jovial, can-do attitude. Glass half full.
Free spirited and adventurous characters are extremely attractive to them. Ideally, they would love to have a partner who enjoys going on frequent with to explore new places and to have adventures with. With a free-spirited nature often comes an open mind, which they also find endearing. Their life partner is likely to be very tolerant of the lifestyle choices of others, instead of hateful towards them. They understand that we are all different and they leave others to live their lives as they see fit.
If they are spiritual, all the better. Their partner’s spiritual beliefs don’t have to tally up completely with their own — just as long as they are roughly the same, that will do. And I think for most people, they would prefer to have a partner who is, to some extent, spiritually inclined, or at least agnostic open minded and accepting of the possibility of a Soul and life after death.
In some cases, these people might choose to remain single because these people need a lot of freedom in their relationships. They certainly don’t envisage themselves being tied down in their marriage or longterm relationship. No, they tend to picture themselves sharing their lives in an egalitarian and free-wheeling manner.
For some of them, that could mean opting out of a relationship, or avoiding them altogether, if they feel someone, or relationships generally, are too confining. Personally, whenever I would date someone who I sensed might be traditional in their views, or controlling, I duck out. And now, in my late thirties, I am happy being single and will only accept a partner who shares the same views as me, and who also enjoys plenty of freedom in a relationship.
Their partner may be of foreign descent, or they may have met them abroad, for example, while on vacation. Earlier, I mentioned that I have this placement and all of my relationships have been with people of different races. While I am Greek by blood, my first and second partners were half asian, hailing from Malaysia and Singapore respectively, although both were born and raised here in Blighty (England). They seem to be intrigued by those who are different from them, or from the norm in some way, for instance, from a different culture or subculture even.
Marriage
These individuals want a marriage with someone who will allow them plenty of freedom to do their own thing. They might want to spend a lot of time on their own in nature or meditating or playing computer games at home. Whatever — they just need plenty of space. In some cases, they might prefer separate bedrooms so they can do whatever they want before bed and get a really good night’s sleep as and when they decide. Interrupted sleep could interfere with their rest and energy levels and that cause them to miss out on a full schedule the following day.
In some cases, an open marriage, or a thruple relationship could work best for them. For those who find this idea abhorrent, that’s fine, but it’s very likely that they will still require plenty of autonomy to pursue the things they are interested in. I have this placement and I have always needed a lot of space and freedom in my relationships. I have a lot of hobbies and interests which I don’t expect my partner to also be interested in but which I would like to be free to explore. I’m very monogamous now that I’m older but when I was in my 20s, I found it very difficult to settle down with someone who had everything I was looking for. Back then, I thought the grass could potentially be greener elsewhere.
One on One Interactions
Sagittarius is associated with a very strong sense of morality. These people strive to behave in an ethical manner in all of their interactions with others and they always try to see things from the perspective of others, even if in the most challenging situations. They would feel bad if they didn’t. In some cases, they would consider it terribly unspiritual, too.
They also normally feel that it’s important to allow the other person to feel heard and their thoughts and feelings respected. They may have a philosophical outlook on their one on one interactions with others. Keen conversationalists, they are often exuberant when talking and may frequently gesticulate, talk loudly, and laugh a lot.
On the flip side, they can be a bit idealistic by expecting too much from people, especially those whose behavior is less than desirable. They should probably come around to the idea that some people will behave like jerks no matter what anyone says or does.
Open Enemies
There are some other, seemingly unrelated life themes governed by this house but it’s important to remember that they’re here because they’re linked to the sign of Libra, which is associated with this house. The sign of Libra is all about how we relate to others.
When it comes to hidden enemies, since Sagittarius is associated with expansion and abundance, these people may accrue a significant amount of open adversaries as they move through life. But, they’re also very likely to win the vast majority of their battles with them thanks to the sign also being associated with great luck.
Legal Contracts
They may have lots of negotiations and contracts throughout their life — from domestic to professional. There may be matters abroad to deal with which require legal help with, or there may be people, including relatives and close friends, living abroad with whom some legal matters arise. Considering Sagittarius is a very upbeat sign linked with luck, the majority, if not all of these matters may be positive in nature and greatly benefit these individuals. For instance, they may have land, property, or other assets abroad which require legal help to maintain or sell, meaning more income for them.
Conflicts
The 7th house governs trivial matters and problem solving which is related to conflicts, so I would suggest you also take a look at the sign on the cusp and any planets located within, too when assessing how someone deals with conflicts.
These people may experience numerous conflicts during the course of their lifetime. Some of these could be with people from abroad but most of them will be in their own country. They may attempt to see things from the viewpoints of others and use their spiritual beliefs to resolve matters as best as they can. They may have an unorthodox, confident, and perhaps loud or humorous approach in their dealings with others. If they feel cornered and especially upset, they can be very forceful and will fight to be heard and to win, especially if they feel they are being treated unfairly. They loathe injustice in all of its forms but especially when they are on the receiving end of it!
