The Meaning of Water in Astrology
In zodiacal order, the water signs are Cancer, Scorpio, and Pisces. They are respectively ruled by the Moon, Pluto (and co-ruler Mars), and Neptune. Their gender is feminine (which essentially means they’re introverted).
Because they are all of the same element and gender, they share many, many traits. Those whose birth charts have a lot of water in them are regarded as emotionally sensitive, “deep”, introspective, intuitive, empathic, imaginative, creative and a lot more besides.
What Does the Water Element Indicate Exactly?
In astrology, people who are strongly influenced by the element of water are exceptionally emotionally sensitive and they have great emotional depth. They are intuitive, empathetic, and compassionate. They also tend to be somewhat introspective and introverted owing the feminine nature of the water signs.
Water also has the ability to soothe and heal, and indeed, many people who have a lot of water in their charts tend to have a soothing or healing quality about them. Some of them may choose to these traits in a professional capacity, for instance, as a doctor, nurse, therapist, life coach, or energy healer.
Others may simply make wonderfully supportive, caring, and helpful friends. They are normally excellent listeners and genuinely care about their loved ones. They strive to form deep, meaningful relationships with their most beloved friends and hope that their connection lasts a lifetime.
Positive Traits Associated With Water
I think water is a wonderful element. It’s my personal favorite. Water dominant types harbour such deep emotions and that’s what makes us human! And since they feel so deeply, they tend to produce the most magical creative work such as paintings, illustrations, music, poetry, and so much more besides. They can be the gentlest and most sympathetic of people when they feel safe, secure, and valued.
The intuition water types have is remarkable. It borders on psychic ability. No doubt, in fact, some of them will be actually be psychic. Some of the most intuitive people around have a lot of water in their charts. The connections they form with their partner, friends and family are often very deep and seriously long-lasting.
Negative Traits of the Water Element
Being so sensitive, water dominant folk may become defensive and overreact in challenging situations or when they hear something they don’t like. Scorpios can become particularly aggressive owing the influence of co-ruling planet Mars, the intense and dynamic planet of action and gut instinct. They may also withdraw or avoid speaking to those who upset them for very long periods of time.
Pisceans may be less assertive than Cancerians and Scorpios because of Pisces’ mutable modality. However, this inclination can be overcome by working on something that really lights them up and they regard as having longterm potential.
What Water Types Admire
I’m certain there are many things that water dominant types admire about others but they seem to especially admire are people who are emotionally sensitive yet grounded. They admire and are drawn to people who they feel have emotional depth. People who come across as shallow to them are generally avoided. They have virtually no tolerance at all for it. Many of them admire resilience in others as they see it as crucial for them to cultivate, especially considering how emotionally vulnerable they normally feel.
Colors for Water Types
These individuals are particularly drawn to earthy colors such as greens, browns, and grays. They are also find of hues that mimic the tones of natural materials like terracotta and clay. Many also enjoy the beauty of crystals, glass, and sea glass.
Plants and Herbs for Water Types
Soothing and healing plants and herbs such as lavender, chamomile, aloe vera, rosemary, lemon balm and calendula are often chosen by these people. Seaweed and other hydro plants are also admired for their ethereal beauty. The money tree plant may appeal to Cancerians and Scorpios as both of these signs focus a great deal on material success.
What Do Water Types Typically Enjoy?
A lot of water types tend to be drawn to bodies of water, such as the sea, waterfalls, and rivers — probably because of their overwhelming otherworldly beauty! Scorpio in particular seems to have a penchant for still and quiet bodies of water, such as still lakes.
Many of them love to interact with the water too by doing things like fishing, boating, and swimming. Intense experiences also go down well with them, especially Scorpios. Contrary to what many believe, these signs can be spontaneous and adventurous. Still, they might err on the side of caution, but they’re certainly not opposed to going on plenty of fun adventures!
Exploring Cancer
The zodiac sign Cancer is the fourth sign of the zodiac. It’s associated with the 4th astrological house which is also known as the Imum Coeli, or IC for short. This name is Latin in origin and it literally means “bottom of the sky” or “nadir”. It is one of the most important houses in the house system with comprises twelve houses with each house associated with one of the twelve zodiac signs. It’s an important house because it indicates how we started out in life. It provides insight into what our home life was like, what our relationship with our mother, or main caregiver, was like, and what our senior years are likely to look like.
It’s located between Aries and Gemini and its astrological symbol is the crab. The glyph depicts a pair of crab claws in a sort of yin-yang arrangement. The Moon, the planet which rules one’s emotions, instinctual nature, gut reactions, subconscious, and inner world governs it. Lastly, it’s a feminine, cardinal sign.
Owing to its element and ruling planet, the planet, Cancer is widely regarded as being incredibly emotionally sensitive, introspective, creative, shrewd, kind, nurturing, motherly, supportive, understanding, and psychic. It also has a penchant for history and its own past. The negative traits that are associated with the sign are: moodiness, reticence, stubbornness, defensiveness, dependence, and secretiveness. These people can quickly withdraw, sometimes for long periods of time, when they feel overwhelmed or offended.
Exploring Scorpio
Scorpio is widely regarded as the most emotionally intense sign in the whole zodiac system, although the fire signs (Aries, Leo and Sagittarius), can also be very intense. This is especially true of Aries, as it shares action-oriented Mars as a ruling planet. Leo is dramatic and loud, and Sagittarius is super optimistic, animated, and extroverted. It’s the eighth sign in the zodiac and is linked to the 8th astrological house of death and taxes.
Both Pluto and Mars govern it. Pluto is linked to the underworld and the afterlife, while Mars is associated with war, action, energy, drive, including sexual drive, goals and ambition. It’s one of four fixed signs in the zodiac (the rest are Taurus, Leo, and Aquarius). Fixed signs tend to form immovable opinions. They’re also inclined to see things in black and white rather than in shades of gray. For instance, something or someone can easily be seen as either all good, or all bad. However, they are also some of the most tenacious zodiac signs and are experts at finishing whatever they start.
Scorpio energy can be empathetic, sympathetic, intuitive, determined, passionate, energetic, cerebral, cautious, and shrewd. It isn’t as easy-going or happy go-lucky, as some of the other signs but it’s naturally skilled at squeezing the absolute most out of life! Those born under this sign tend to not waste a single moment, nor a penny; they can stretch a shoestring budget to an impressive degree.
Some of the sign’s less enlightened traits include being overly sensitive, being too ambitious, ruthlessness, aggression, manipulation, vindictiveness, and vengefulness. In the past, this sign was the most feared for its negative traits, but also admired for its natural intelligence and psychic ability.
Exploring Pisces
Pisces is ruled by dreamy and idealistic Neptune. Neptune is a planet that looks ethereal with its stunning blue-green coloring. It’s associated with dreams, the subconscious, mysticism, spirituality, imagination, creativity, compassion and sensitivity.
Pisces is a mutable sign meaning that it’s more inclined to see things from other viewpoints and be sympathetic towards the things others go through. They also have a wonderful go-with-the-flow attitude towards life, although they can be a bit too nervous. They can also be quite indecisive and occasionally, wishy-washy.
As Pisces is the twelfth sign of the zodiac, it’s associated with the 12th house. This house is known as the house of dreams and the subconscious. Pisces energy is typically compassionate, open-minded, caring, artistic, whimsical, imaginative, loving, self-sacrificing, and spiritual. However, this sign can also be hyper sensitive, easily hurt, moody, disorganised, selfish, and apathetic.
