Part of Fortune in 12th House: Mystic Wealth

About the Part of Fortune

If you’re already familiar with the significance of this Arabic Part, you can skip this bit.

The house the Part of Fortune is in shows us the areas of life that are likely to prove the most joyous, lucky and prosperous. The sign that that it’s in shows us the traits that are the most advantageous to the individual. For example, I have the Part of Fortune in Capricorn. I choose to utilise the positive traits associated with the sign, like patience and perseverance, in order to meet my personal and professional goals. And it works well time and time again!

The Part of Fortune is depicted in the birth chart as a circle with a cross through it. It’s an Arabic part and consequently, it isn’t often examined by Western astrologers, which I think is a big shame as it’s one of the most positive and encouraging parts of the chart.

Many astrologers think that we grow into this chart point. The areas and traits that it covers in the chart tend to become more fortuitous over time, typically over age 30. Until then, we may notice some bumps in the road, so to speak, with relation to some of the traits and areas of life associated with it. With this particular placement, a lot of time could have been spent alone growing up. This could have been peaceful and positive, or it may have been quite painful and challenging.

Those with the Part of Fortune in the 12th house find much joy, fulfilment and success in 12th house themes like spirituality, the arts, humanitarian activities and psychology.

Joy Through Spirituality

Being authentic without fearing how others will react to them, provides you with a sense of stability, peace and joy. While I believe this a universally beneficial mindset, many of us struggle to achieve it. One of the biggest gifts of this placement, though, is a naturally peaceful mind and outlook on life.

You find a lot of comfort and happiness in your spiritual beliefs, whatever they are. Your spirituality is a big part of your life. It colors the choices you make and the actions you take. You might enjoy living in accordance with your beliefs, believing that good behavior may help you to manifest a good life and after-life.

Should you choose to embrace a formal spiritual role, such as a nun, priest or rabbi, your occupation could last a lifetime and provide you with everything you need to live. Nuns and monks in particular also tend to have magnificent support systems as they live with many other likeminded souls. They’re also often visited by various spiritual leaders who can offer them support, should they need it.

Success In Solitude

You may crave a peaceful, quiet life away from busy towns and polluted cities. If you grew up in one, you may feel compelled to get away from the incessant hustle and bustle and live in a quiet, perhaps even somewhat isolated, location. Your best work could be achieved in solitude, in quiet, peaceful locations. For instance, if you enjoy writing, your concentration, as well as your sense of inner contentment, may increase when you’re alone in a peaceful location. As a result, you tend to be more productive and produce top quality work.

A friend of mine has this placement and she works in her home office in her countryside cottage. Her office is compact but beautifully decorated, naturally light-filled, and brimming with plants. It’s an enhancing space which reflects her gentle and imaginative inner-self. Her sole companion is her sweet ginger kitten. She manages her time and life perfectly well and generates a decent income as an illustrator from the comfort of her delightful sanctuary.

Care and Compassion for Others

You may discover great fulfilment by taking care of other people or animals. Or perhaps both. You revel in witnessing the difference your help makes to the lives of others. You also tend to enjoy listening to others and making them feel heard. You give people the space they need to share their thoughts and feelings while offering your genuine interest and understanding.

Becoming involved with your community is also a source of happiness for you. You want to do all you can to make the area in which you live a better place. You may actively participate in community service and social events that contribute to the well-being of the neighbourhood.

Helping the planet is also something you feel strongly about and you enjoy doing what you can to help mother nature. This is more important than ever now with climate change causing chaos all over the world. You might help by being an avid recycler and by keeping a watchful eye on your carbon footprint. Doing other things for the environment, like planting trees and plants, and not buying too many new things could also make you feel like you’re making a positive difference in the world.

If you run a business, you may enjoy being a kind and considerate employer who takes care of their staff. There could also be an emphasis on treating customers and/or clients with respect and compassion. Another way of helping others via your business could be to donate a percentage of profits to a cause you feel strongly about.

Joy Through Artistic Pursuits

This house is associated with the arts so you may do very well in some kind of creative career like music, dancing, painting or interior design. Any career or hobby that allows you to express your creative side makes you feel content. You seek to live according to your heart’s desires, rather than slogging away in a windowless office from Monday to Friday for the benefit of a faceless corporation.

You may also be enthusiastic about community art projects. However, your passion lies not only in your own creative endeavors but also in your ability to bring people together in the collaborative process of crafting something meaningful.

Conveying your knowledge of the arts, whether through teaching, writing or journalism, could prove a lot of fun too. By sharing your personal insights on the arts, you have the potential to build a successful career rooted in your passion and expertise.

Metaphysical Pursuits

As well as being interested in spirituality, you may also be interested in metaphysical pursuits like astrology, numerology, tarot, energy healing, past life regression and work which involves crystals.

You could be quite private about your esoteric interests, with only those closest to you knowing about them. Or perhaps you use your knowledge to help create an income. For instance, as a Reiki healer offering sessions.

Psychology and The Subconscious Mind

You could be naturally interested in what makes other people tick. You may be naturally good at understanding others, even if they aren’t especially skilled at expressing themselves. Professions like psychology, teaching and coaching could prove to be fortuitous for you because of your natural inclination to help others and understand how they work. You might also find it interesting to share some of your knowledge of the mind and the subconscious through written work or videos.

Since the 12th house also rules dreams, you may be particularly interested in, and good at, deconstructing and interpreting your dreams — and those of others. It may seem a little quirky, but perhaps you might find it joyful to dabble in dream analysis. In fact, there are people who offer dream analysis as a professional service and I would expect that some of them earn a good living from it!

Possible Career Paths

Since the 12th house is associated with Pisces, any career which is related to the sign of Pisces is of particular interest. These include the ones I mentioned above, as well as medicine, holistic healing and work that is carried out within confined spaces like prisons, hospitals, hotels and retreats.
