Recently, I was watched the PBS show, Hotel Portofino. For those who aren’t familiar with this beautiful series, it’s set in a stunning villa on the Italian coastline in the roaring 1920s. Bella, a mature woman, runs the villa as a hotel, which brings her great joy. Her guests are lovely, interesting people from all over the world and she forges strong friendships with some of them.
Although her own family is quite small, there’s an intimate and upbeat feeling about the place, which she helped to create. The fabulous weather also helps. In my opinion, her life depicts this placement well; someone living their dream life abroad in a beautiful location, running a business, and living the life they truly want to live.
Of course, running a successful business abroad isn’t the only way these people can make a living or find happiness. They could receive an inheritance from abroad or be welcomed into a thriving family business that is being run abroad — or any other number of possibilities could occur with a link to foreign lands.
If they married someone from a different background, this placement suggests that their partner is wealthy. If so, they stand to reap the benefits associated with having a wealthy spouse. They may even stand to inherit a considerable estate from their in-laws.
Of course, not everyone with this placement will necessarily make money in connection with overseas… Most will simply enjoy travelling and exploring new places. Travelling for fun and to broaden their horizons is probably a big part of their lives.
