The Part of Fortune is a mathematical point in the birth chart. It indicates what brings someone a great deal of joy and prosperity. The house depicts the avenues of life which bring us our greatest joy and prosperity. The sign indicates the traits and qualities that can help to bring about joy and success.
We grow into this placement; both the house and the sign. So those with Part of Fortune in the 5th may not find success in a creative area like music creation or painting when they were young but excelled in it once they became adults.
If the Part of Fortune is well aspected, success and joy around the themes of the 5th house may flow effortlessly into the native’s life. If it has some negative aspects, there may be some delays or challenges associated with it, however, this bit of the chart is known to focus solely on themes like joy, abundance and success rather than anything negative.
Sadly, this astrological point isn’t widely discussed. I’m unaware of any printed books dedicated solely to its exploration. This could be because it’s an Arabic part, so it isn’t widely discussed by, or taught to, budding astrologers. And that’s a shame because it has so much interesting, positive information to offer!
Success Through Love Affairs or Marriage
Long-term relationships and marriage tends to be fortuitous. They may find a partner who is also creative. They could both work in creative fields or share the same creative passions. If their partner is wealthy, no doubt they will also benefit from their wealth to some degree. Their lives could become a great deal easier, more enjoyable, and slower paced with someone who can easily pay the mortgage and bills every month!
Their partner could be very emotionally supportive and help them to achieve their goals and pursue the creative endeavours that make their heart sing. Before they met them, they might not have naturally had much self belief but their partner may have encouraged them to try harder and manifest beautiful artwork, music, writing, or whatever else they originally wanted to pursue.
Of course, they don’t need to be married to find success and happiness! Plenty of people these days don’t really fancy the idea of marriage. They might have relationships that are fun yet short-lived or simply live together as a coupe without the marriage certificate. Not everyone with this placement will want serious, longterm commitment. Prosperity can still come from a lover or partner if they are eager to help them in some way.
Self Employment
This placement also suggests good business sense and self generated prosperity. This may be with the advice of others close to them, such an experienced partner or an astute sibling, but for the most part, the hard graft is done by them. They might not have the self confidence needed early on life to start a business, but given the right circumstances later in life, they could find it. And the joy of self employment could change their lives. It certainly changed my friend’s life who started a coffee company a few years ago with her partner and father.

Although they were probably highly creative when they were young, they may have felt like they were blocked from making it in a creative career. But, as we age, we change, and so later in on life, perhaps from thirty onwards, they finally found success in some kind of creative career. Maybe they would like to go back to school and study a creative subject.
Perhaps a creative hobby began to generate some level of income. They then decided to increase that income in order to turn it into a full-time job. A friend of mine with this placement used to make pottery. Someone encouraged her to set up a stall at an arts and crafts fair some years ago and her works sold out.
Now she sells her creations through social media platforms like Instagram and TikTok. She hasn’t quit her day job just yet as she doesn’t make a fortune from it but she makes a very healthy secondary income from it! And she enjoys knowing that people appreciate her work enough to buy it. She especially likes the idea of it sitting around in other people’s homes across the world. And who knows where her creations end up! It’s exciting to think about!
Success Through Children
This placement also suggests an increase in joy and prosperity through generous and dynamic children. One or more of their children could have a Leo Sun, Moon or Rising Sign, or embody Leonine traits and characteristics. They may be especially determined and successful and enjoy spending quality time with their family, having fun with them, and generously share their resources with them.
As a side note, my mother has this this placement and I have a Leo Sun sign. I contribute to the household income and maintain the family home. I also enjoy spending lots of time with her and we often have fun together by playing board games and painting together during trips to the English countryside.
To use another example, my aunt has a close friend with this placement and her daughter writes children’s books for a living. She enjoys spending time with her elderly parents, and she takes care of them by shopping for them, and covering virtually all of their expenses, including their vacations to beautiful places abroad.
Success Through Sporting Activities
Many of these people are naturally talented athletes. They may not have excelled in sport when they were at school because as I mentioned earlier, we tend to grow into this placement. But, many grow to discover an appreciation for sport. Even watching sports on TV could be very enjoyable. A friend with this placement enjoys playing tennis and badminton but she also loves watching Wimbledon on TV and people playing locally when the weather is nice.
Some of these individuals may become well-known sports personalities or compete in local and state games. In some cases, this could provide them with a substantial income. Others may simply enjoy other aspects of physical activity like the fresh air and mental stimulation that often comes with it.

Any creative career path could be considered here — from chef to gymnast instructor to musician! Their creativity knows no bounds. Virtually any form of it fills them with tremendous happiness. If they feel the ship has sailed in that department, then they should know that it’s never too late to start something new or pick up where they left off! Sometimes, a spark of enthusiasm — or a bit of encouragement from friends — is all that is needed to reignite the flame of passion and get cracking on something new and fun.
A new creative career could provide them with an income, however big or small. But they don’t have to purse something they love for an income. A new creative pastime like illustration, upcycling or pottery creation could also prove to be thoroughly emotionally rewarding!
