“Oh, you’re an astrologer?!” People are often quite amused when I tell them what I do for a living but I suppose my career is unorthodox.

No, it isn’t a science. It’s very much open to each individual’s interpretation. Often, interpretations can actually vary quite widely. These vastly different interpretations can spark very interesting and lively debates.

Astrology, alongside other similar sciences, will always be condemned by nonbelievers, and I think that that is a given, because of its spiritual and esoteric nature. But we cannot forget that great minds like Jung thought of astrology as valid and found connections between it and the widely accepted science of psychology. It should be noted that there is a plethora of different house systems one can use to calculate the house placements. In fact, I think there are over ten. The most commonly used one is the Tropical Placidus system but a handful of astrologers I know like to use the Whole Sign system. Using an online birth chart calculator, you could calculate them using the different systems and use your intuition to discover the one that resonates best with you.

What Do Aspects Mean?

The aspects are the angles made between the various planets, houses, and calculated points in the birth chart. There are many different types of aspects and some are regarded as more favorable than others. However, we all have a mix of positive and negative aspects in our charts. Some might have more than others but these can be viewed as opportunities for Soul growth rather than simply bad news.

What Can Affect an Astrological Placement?

LOTS of things can affect how the energy of a placement manifests. Here are the most prominent:
