Gemini Sun Sign: The Curious Intellectual
How wonderfully refreshing and upbeat the Geminian spirit is! It emanates playfulness, vivacity, and an insatiable curiosity which sometimes comes across as child-like. Geminis tend to make gifted writers, journalists, story-tellers and public speakers.
They are the wordsmiths of the zodiac, naturally talented at articulating their thoughts and feelings with eloquence and lightness. Owing to their insatiable thirst for knowledge and constant need for mental stimulation, they embark on a lifelong quest of learning about the world around them from an early age.
Gemini is the third sign of the zodiac. It is ruled by planet Mercury, the swift-footed messenger of the Gods responsible for conveying messages between heaven and Earth in ancient Greek mythology. Mercury also rules the sign of Virgo, which has plenty in common with Gemini. Because of this, similarly to Libra, another air sign, they can make very good lawyers, politicians and diplomats. Additionally, and again, similarly to Libra, they enjoy seeing and encouraging equality and justice in our world.
Their innate love of words combined with their wittiness and quick thinking means they can communicate exceptionally well using all forms of communication. Like Virgo, which is also ruled by Mercury, they make excellent public speakers, journalists, authors, story-tellers and bloggers. When it comes to general knowledge, these people know a little about a lot. Negative Traits Associated With Gemini
Although they are highly sociable because they relish the mental stimulation that comes with having lots of friendships, they can be a bit too talkative. Their explanations can be unnecessarily long-winded and they can take a long time to get to the point. Where just a few words would normally suffice, they seem to feel compelled to elaborate and embellish. While they are talking, they tend to be very enthusiastic about whatever is being discussed and that can mean they end up talking over others. Going off on tangents in conversations can also happen instead of sticking to the matter in hand.
Thanks to their love of communication, plenty of Geminis enjoy gossiping. I’ve come across a fair few who gossiping as a hobby. What I have noticed is that normally, it’s when they don’t have anything more interesting to discuss because they aren’t generally malicious people. On the contrary, they tend to be very tolerant to alternative viewpoints and lifestyles.
Their voracious appetite for learning and doing new things, means that they are easily distracted, and often suffer from ‘Shiny Ball Syndrome’. They only really stick to the things, or people, who deeply capture their attention and make them feel excited.
While they love to explore new subjects and learn as much as they can, there is a danger that they might end up becoming a “jack of all trades”, and master of none. They seem to prefer the thrill of getting to know something new a little bit, before moving onto the next exciting thing. Because of this tendency, they run the risk of never learning a subject in depth and that could impact their career. Some of these natives might have multiple careers until they find something that truly suits them.
As logical as they can be, what makes sense to them, might not make sense to others. Some of these people think in abstract ways so they don’t necessarily have their feet on the ground all the time. For instance, a Gemini friend of my mothers moved to the other side of the country despite having never visited it. She connected abstract dots like her gut feeling about the place, the city’s culture, the climate, and creative opportunities. It made sense to her and it worked out well but others might see that as pretty risky!
Physical Appearance
A lot of Geminis have a willowy appearance. Their fingers and arms tend to be long and slender. Their face shape may be oval and their overall appearance very youthful. Their eyes convey a certain child-like cheekiness, as if they have some mischief in mind and they are on the verge of following through with it.
Their hair tends to be rather fine no matter their heritage, and the women normally like to keep it long. Women who prefer to have short haircuts might opt for a pixie cut, if their face shape is compatible with it. One very common thing I have noticed about this sign is that these people love to accessorize with interesting and stylish, if not weird and wonderful, jewellery, hats, belts, shades and so on.
As a Partner
These natives enjoy doing all kinds of things with their partner, including traveling and trying new foods, as much as possible. They also allow their spouse, and other members of their family, including their children and pets, plenty of freedom. As they see it, they don’t like to be tied down with too many rules and obligations so why would they do the same to those they love?
As easily distracted and flighty as they are, as long as they feel they have married their ideal person, they will remain committed. Of course, every marriage has its ups and downs but as long as their relationship remains interesting, fun, upbeat and mentally stimulating for the most part.
Dating
They love hanging out with those they consider intelligent because they can engage in compelling and insightful conversations with them on a variety of subjects. Bearing this in mind, their date should be a good communicator as well as an interesting person. The Gemini parent will take great pleasure in teaching their children as much as possible about the world around them. There is normally an emphasis on education and they will probably do their best to get their children into the best school possible. Within the household, there will probably be a plethora of learning materials lying around like books, board games, flash cards as well as electronic devices that can help teach them things like iPads.
They encourage their children to use their words, rather than anything else, during disagreements with others such as fellow pupils, teachers and friends. Civility and tolerance towards others from different backgrounds is encouraged. Ideally, they would like their children to become smart and capable adults who are ready for the world and the various different challenges that it will inevitably present.
As a Pet Parent
They find the company of their pets soothes their restless and sensitive nerves while keeping them physically active. While one pet might do, they often prefer having a few animal companions, whom they can lavish attention and affection upon. My fifty something year old cousin, for instance, habitually reads stories to his elderly greyhound at bedtime.
Another Gemini I know has a dog and a rabbit, who are incidentally best friends. He can’t help but dress them up, and sometimes, much to the amusement of passers-by, he takes them on walks together with the rabbit in a pram. They have their own shared bedroom complete with separate miniature wardrobes. Geminis also enjoy teaching their pets all kinds of tricks, for their own amusement as well as to help their pets lead more fulfilling lives, for instance, by using talking buttons to communicate.
As a Friend
As flighty, forgetful, scatty and fickle they can be, their friends tend to forgive them. They might talk over them quite a bit, and they may be inclined to talk more than listen, but they genuinely enjoy the company of the people they form friendships with. Their wicked sense of humour, entertaining, whacky and fantastic stories, including those of their adventures makes then utterly lovable.
Since they tend to know quite a lot about a lot, they tend to make very good sources of information. Their friends might find themselves asking them for practical advice, relationship advice, business advice, and so on. I would imagine that picking their brains would have been especially helpful pre-Internet!
