Black Moon Lilith in 8th House: Intense Depths

Interpretations of the black moon Lilith vary quite a bit. Some astrologers don’t see fit to discuss it at all when reading a customer’s birth chart. I believe that the house it sits in signifies the areas of life we find the most challenging and which we may feel ashamed of. By becoming aware of the Black Moon Lilith, we heal the areas of life which we feel ashamed of or find difficult.

Each house in astrology rules different avenues of life. Lilith in the 8th house indicates difficulties around the themes governed by the house. Mainly, these comprise: intimacy, money and shared resources and sexuality and intimacy. It also encompasses mystical and occult practices and transformation.

The Role of the Black Moon Lilith in Astrology

There are three Liliths in astrology. Most of the time, when someone talks about “their Lilith”, they are talking about the most acknowledged and popular one — the Black Moon Lilith (BML for short). In the birth chart, it’s represented by a moon with a cross at the bottom. It isn’t a celestial body but a mathematical point in the chart. There is another Lilith which is an asteroid and totally unrelated to the BML.

Sexuality and Intimacy

Although this isn’t in any way intended, your aura is probably very sensual. You don’t need to be a model, wear revealing clothes or lots of makeup; you just naturally exude an air of sensuality. Although this can be lovely, it can also attract a lot of unwanted attention, especially when you’re young. Unwanted attention is stressful at any age but it’s especially traumatic when you’re young and don’t know how to deal with it.

When you were younger, you may have felt ashamed, or were shamed, for your sexuality. Even if you identify as straight, you may have been mocked or punished for having a boyfriend or girlfriend or experimenting sexually. You may have been caught being intimate with someone and felt humiliated. If you’re gay or bisexual, you may have been bullied for it and grew up to with complicated feelings around your sexuality. As a result, you could have decided to stay safe by keeping it a secret. You may have even repressed it all by yourself for fear of being made fun of.

There are significant trust issues surrounding intimacy. The vulnerable state that we are in when committing intimate acts with a partner means that we must trust them to avoid being harmed. At some point during their lifetime, perhaps in their teens, twenties or thirties, they may have experienced some sort or harm, abuse or humiliation while in bed with someone. Such trauma can leave a lasting impact which can result in great distrust in future partners or potential partners.

Issues Surrounding Trusting Others

This is the sign that probably has the most painful and long lasting issues with trust. When they were younger, they may have been poorly badly or/and betrayed by someone close to them. The event/s may have traumatised them so much that they because hyper vigilant and distrustful of others. Perhaps they only trust a few people close to them such as a partner, parent, or sibling.

Having such deep seated trust issues can lead to a rather solitary existence. This may be avoided if their work through their trauma and accept that life is inevitably full of risks. Every single one of us must trust others to some degree in order to live our lives normally and fully. If we remain too guarded, we risk missing out on wonderful friendships, relationships, and positive experiences like parties.

Contrastingly, some of these people may have issues with being too trusting of others and have negative experiences surrounding that. BML in the 8th house is more about finding balance and using discernment to decipher which people and situations are likely to be safe rather than being too wary.

Mystical and Occult Practices

Of course, not everyone with this placement is interested in mysticism or the occult. Those who are, however, may experience some issues related to them especially if they have psychic abilities. For example, they might attract negative entities or suffer from night terrors. This is especially true of those who use divination tools like the Ouija board to answer their questions.

The 8th house also represents death and the Other Side, also known as Heaven. Some of these people may be interested in, or work in these areas, for example, as a taxidermist, medium, or mortician. But as much as they enjoy their work, they may feel as if their career is wrong somehow — perhaps too strange or shameful, and choose to stay quiet about it. To a lesser extent, their affiliation with death and heaven could be as simple as being the first person to effectively comfort and support those suffering from bereavement.

Money and Shared Resources

This house is affiliated with money, including shared money and resources. Issues around money and other resources may include feeling embarrassed about wanting money it or accepting financial aid from others including the government. Even if they are entitled to receive it, they may reject it for fear of it being unethical or making them look shady or poor.

In some cases, some of these people may become obsessed with achieving wealth and status. They may be ruthless in their pursuit of their financial goals. They also intuitively know what to say to others to curry their favor and manipulate them into giving them what they want.

Sharing their resources with someone else may feel challenging for some reason. Perhaps it feels dangerous to them, and in some cases it can be because of things like acrimonious divorce. They may have experienced someone close to them strongly advising them never to share what they have with someone else or that it’s wrong to take from others.

Since this house rules inheritance, challenges related to inheritances may occur. For example, upon a parent’s death, the children may fight among themselves for what they think is rightfully theirs despite the contents of the will. Or perhaps a parent decides to leave their estate to charity or someone other than their own offspring causing much frustration and stress that must be worked through.

Transformation

The 8th house is linked to spiritual and/or psychological transformation; a transformation of the true inner Self so these individuals may be shamed or feel ashamed of assisting others with their personal journeys. Or they could feel ashamed for being themselves by being kind and considerate towards others. To some extent, this may be the result of our fast paced, material driven world rewarding aggressive behavior over helpfulness and kindheartedness.

Another possibility is that they may experience issues with their own personal growth, specifically healing and moving on from past traumas. This links into their ability to trust others. If they were traumatised by others in the past, they might find it very hard to repair their trust and faith in humanity, but it can, of course, be done.

Sex is a type of transformation and so problems may arise in the bedroom with them becoming bored quickly of their partner and seeking pleasure elsewhere, or perhaps with multiple other people. An obsession with a partner may form.

Changing the Story

Some astrologers don’t believe you can change the narratives of the themes governed by the BML house. Personally, I think it’s perfectly possible with enough willpower and work. Self-acceptance and knowing your worth is crucial in changing any negative experiences regarding 8th house themes. The themes of the 8th house may be areas in which you will one day come to excel in, instead of fall prey to.

If anyone is living with trust issues or negative beliefs surroundings things as important as money, they might want to try changing the story around them.
