What is Part of Fortune in Astrology?
Often referred to as the “pot-of-gold” in the birth chart, the Part of Fortune suggests where we are likely to discover true happiness. Of course, success is subjective and what may bring one person joy and fulfilment may not have the same effect on another. It’s by no means a sort of mystical key to help each of of us access tremendous wealth. Rather, it indicates the things that are most likely help us feel fulfilled, stable and happy.
It’s a mathematical point in the birth chart which involves the Sun, Moon, and Ascendant. If you don’t have your exact time of birth, you sadly won’t be able to accurately calculate it. It’s a Hermetic lot (Arabic part) and therefore rarely included in chart readings carried out by Western astrologers. It’s also infrequently included in Western astrology courses and you won’t find much on it in astrology books old and new.
Something interesting to note about this part is that we grow into it. And along the way, there may be some bumps in the road, with some people experiencing challenges in the areas associated with the sign and house that it’s in. However, once adulthood is reached, people start reaping the benefits associated with it.

The 2nd house is called a few different things, as all of the houses are, but this one is commonly referred to as the “House of Finances”.
People therefore often assume that those with this placement are destined for great wealth, but this isn’t always the case. Not everyone with this placement inherits a fortune, wins a lottery jackpot, or bags a job as the CEO of a Fortune 500 company. To many people, abundance means being consistently supported, especially during difficult times.
Of course, statically, some people with this placement, do win large sums of money or have high salary jobs, and so on. In such cases this could be down to what the stars were doing at the time, or it could just be part of what their Soul planned to experience in this lifetime before birth.

My friends and I grew up glued to our computers and some of us had already learned how to make money online by the time we were in our late teens, for example, with simple affiliate websites. Although most of my friends didn’t make huge sums, many learned the ropes of website creation and online marketing. Today, one old friend of mine with this placement runs a lucrative online business as a social media star. She does incredibly well for herself.
In other cases, these people may have studied hard from an early age because they had their sights set on a high paying job in a competitive field. They could have been quite intense about their academic progress and stressed a lot around the time of their exams but consistently achieved top grades.
This placement also hints at success in self-employment. In their younger years, these natives may have dreamed of running their own business. They could have started one when they were young which may not have been especially lucrative but taught them invaluable lessons. These lessons were then likely applied judiciously to their subsequent ventures when they were older and wiser and they found greater success as a result.

Once he was in profit on each garage, he’d buy another one and after some years of re-investing almost all of what he made, he ended up making a seriously impressive passive income! I thought that was pretty genius.

We are all capable of creating a successful business, no matter what the stars are doing, or what’s in our birth chart. We all have free-will and every placement in astrology has its pros and cons. However, as I touched on earlier, many of these natives are born itching to start a business of some kind. Inheritance is also associated with this placement, although not to the same degree as Part of Fortune in the 8th house. Of course, not everyone with this placement is set to inherit a vast estate — if they inherit anything at all. To use a personal example, a friend of mine loves to knit. She has a medium sized knitting channel on YouTube and she has just started out on TikTok and Etsy. Although her passion began as a hobby, her pretty creations and her welcoming and positive energy have helped her to build a loyal audience. Today, she makes a sizeable income from selling her creations and via ads and sponsorships on social media doing what she loves the most!

In many instances, a traditional career that is not only thoroughly enjoyable but high paying is what these people often end up in. Some examples of fields they are likely to pick include banking and finance, medicine, law, tech, IT and business. Remember that Taurus, the sign this house is linked to, is associated with tradition and convention so a stable and secure income from a stable and secure job is oftentimes just the ticket for them.
