Part of Fortune in 7th House: Abundance Through Connection
The zodiac sign Libra, ruled by Venus, presides over the 7th house. It’s associated with partnerships, relationships, marriage, diplomacy, agreements, legal matters and negotiation. Those with Part of Fortune in the 7th may therefore find their highest joy, as well as material success, in these areas of life.
What is Part of Fortune in Astrology?
The Part of Fortune fascinates me. This bit of the birth chart contains a good amount of information about where and how we’re most likely to discover our greatest happiness and fortune.
But I’ve found that few astrologers, in the West at least, pay attention to the Part of Fortune. This could be because it’s an Arabic lot rather than a Western one. It’s also not commonly taught to budding astrologers and rarely mentioned in printed books on Western astrology.
The house and sign play different roles. The house indicates the areas of life which may bring the most joy and success and the sign indicates the traits which can help to bring that joy, success etc about. For instance, I have Part of Fortune in this house in the sign of Capricorn. This combo implies that Capricornian traits like patience, attention to detail, and perseverance can help me find joy and success. And if I use such traits in the areas associated with the 7th house, like business, legal matters or partnerships, I’m likely to find prosperity. And I’ve found this to be true: I generally enjoy working with others and I’ve always been drawn to self-employment.
We also grow into this part of the chart and can sometimes be unlucky in the areas of life that are associated with it, but later on in life, we become especially successful in them. That was also the case for me — I’ve been self-employed and got by with the money I made but I was never truly happy with my job or salary until I started this website in my late, late thirties.
If you find that much of this article fails to resonate with you, it could be because you are still quite young. As we age, we tend to grow into this part of the birth chart, as I mentioned earlier. As someone with POF in the 7th, I can say that I didn’t see the value of working with others when I was younger. In fact, I felt bogged down and irritated by it. Now that I’m much older, I’ve grown to value and appreciate it. I can see that two heads (or more) are better than one.
Success Through Romantic Relationships
While these natives may be quite wealthy in their own right, coupling up could also increase their overall abundance and social standing.
If they aren’t married, or in a serious relationship, someone they previously had a relationship with could become an asset to them. Their role could be investor, advisor or they could even be a business partner. They may be very generous with the expert advice they share, the money they give, or any other resources they offer.
To use a personal example, in the past, I received a huge amount of help from an ex who was an experienced businessman. In fact, I probably wouldn’t be an astrologer today had it hadn’t been for his advice, support and encouragement!
Marriage or a longterm commitment could be with someone who is a Libra, or has their Moon or Ascendant in Libra. Or they just embody Libran characteristics like diplomacy, fairness and graciousness. They may be intelligent, creative, and considerate as these traits are also associated with the sign. On the downside, they could be indecisive, idealistic and/or have lots of lofty ideas and goals.
This placement suggests that occasionally, in their relationships with others, they can give too much of themselves. They can also be too accommodating about the wants and needs of their partner and others who are close to them. In some cases, this can create resentment as they realize they’ve been giving a lot while accepting too little in return. Generally speaking, though, as we age, we tend to realize that balance in all ares of life is important and we become more assertive.
Success Through Business Partnerships
Success through self-employment is likely with this placement whether this is alone, with one other person, or as part of a team. These people tend to be very optimistic and enthusiastic about what they can achieve. If they find someone whose outlook is equally good, there’s no end to what they can accomplish as partners. This is really good because many business models work more efficiently when two people are at the helm. Some of these people may also wish to work with numerous others in order to reap the benefits of multiple minds working towards the same goals.
These individuals like to keep their working environment pleasant, upbeat, and mentally stimulating. They can be a little idealistic when it comes to anything business or money related and find things like delays hard to deal with. For the most part, though, they seem to have a natural talent for keeping everyone around them happy and making their projects and ventures work.
Business partnerships may be formed with anyone who they consider to be clever, pleasant and easygoing. This could be friends, family, colleagues, or even people they’ve only known a short while but find good natured. Any partner of theirs must also have impeccable integrity. They won’t work with someone who participates in any kind of underhanded activity. They really dislike unscrupulous people.
Customers and clients also fall under this category. Thanks to the gracious nature of this house, these people tend to attract reasonable and pleasant customers and clients, making their work peaceful and enjoyable. This may happen more with age, though. When we’re young and learning the ropes of anything, we naturally make mistakes, and some of these mistakes can trigger bad reactions in others. Older, more experienced people with this placement may be more diplomatic and able to solve any issues that arise with ease and grace.
Sometimes business partnerships don’t work out, especially early on life. They could have experienced some dreadful customers or clients in their youth (I know I have!). As they grow older and wiser, and more experienced, however, they may draw to them more balanced people, including those who want to see them succeed! They also tend to have better boundaries and therefore accept less nonsense.
Inheritance
Although the 8th house, as ruled by Scorpio, is more strongly linked to inherited wealth, Libra is associated with relationships of all kinds. Seeing as the 7th house is associated with others, success could come from someone who they had a connection that left them something significant upon their passing.
This happened to a good friend of mine with this placement. When she was in her thirties, her grandfather passed away and she inherited his whole estate, which was really big by most people’s standards. The main asset he left her was his six bedroom house complete with swimming pool and sauna. Needless to say, she was very grateful and his gifts changed her life forever, although his absence was sorely felt.
Possible Careers
As I mentioned earlier, this placement suggests successful self-employment but Libra is also strongly associated with charity, law, diplomacy, and art and design.
An old friend of mine from University runs a successful cosmetics business online with her fiancée. They started out making bath bombs in her kitchen during the pandemic and now sell to thousands of people across the world. I see their business as very Venusian because their products bring more beauty into the world with their beautiful designs, and how they make people feel serene, and smell lovely.
Charitable causes interest them too as they enjoy seeing positive change in the world. If they can’t afford to devote the majority of their time to running one themselves, they might be inclined to donate quite a bit. The friend I mentioned earlier who runs the cosmetic business donates 2% of their annual net profit to a charity which plants trees. Since I’ve known her, she’ve been very passionate about the environment and plans to set up her own charity to benefit it one day.
Most of the time, these people are blessed with the ability to view things from many different viewpoints. They’ve often diplomatic at work and frequently bring harmony and resolution to various issues and disputes. In their personal lives, they’re also excellent mediators and can often resolve disagreements effectively. Considering this, professional mediation or even counselling could prove to be excellent career choices for them.
The 7th house is also an artistic house so they could find success in a creative career. I think that these people are capable of earning a living from any artistic or creative activity. As long as they remain devoted to whatever they’re doing avoid becoming disheartened if success takes its time to turn up, they could do very well as a professional creative.
