Black Moon Lilith in 12th House: Embracing Spiritual Power

The house Black Moon Lilith is in shows us the areas of life we perceive as the most challenging. The areas of life ruled by the 12th house mainly comprise the subconscious, dreams, spirituality, seclusion, sacrifice, hidden enemies, karmic debts, institutions and confinement.

Although there are three Liliths in astrology, I’d like to point out that the Black Moon Lilith (BML) is the one most people study and discuss. The second most popular Lilith is the Dark Moon Lilith. Both of these are mathematical points in space. The remaining Lilith is an asteroid that was identified in the 70s. Not a great deal of information has been published about the latter two.

What is Black Moon Lilith Exactly?

We all have a BML placement. It’s a chart point which can be found, when calculated, in a sign and house. The house is more personal because it changes a lot more frequently than the sign. I’ve made a habit of looking at the house placement before the sign because of this.

This incredibly intriguing and popular chart point reveals some of our deepest pain points, fears and apprehensions but more specifically, it shows where you confront taboos, hold suppressed anger or shame.

Dreams and The Subconscious Mind

Your dreams may be extremely vivid and emotionally intense. Perhaps you often remember them in great detail long after you wake. Some people, especially those who can’t recall their dreams, or who would love to have vivid dreams, may be jealous of this wonderful ability of yours.

Those with this placement who aren’t able to recall their dreams in a lot of detail may be subconsciously repressing their ability to do so. If they were made fun of for having powerful dreams, including lucid dreams, at a young age, that may have created a block unconsciously. Maybe they recall the dreams they had during their childhood and would love to experience more of them but don’t know how to.

Hidden Spiritual Depths

Spirituality is probably a very big part of your life, but you tend to keep this to yourself because you might feel it’s somehow shameful or you fear being mocked, dismissed or outcast for your beliefs. Perhaps you were raised in a family that made fun of spirituality so you’d feel too embarrassed to reveal what you believe in. Your beliefs may also be very different to those around you and you worry they wouldn’t be well received if you shared them.

You may be blessed with an enchanting aura of otherworldliness owing to your spiritual nature, which others pick up on. I’d be willing to bet that when you’re alone at home, you probably think a lot about spirituality and how to transcend the human experience through by becoming more spiritually awake. Maybe you enjoy meditating or practising astral projection. Or maybe tarot spreads and runes are more your thing.

Some spiritual people with this placement might enjoy spending lots of time discussing what they believe and some of them may only wish to associate with those whose beliefs match their own. However spiritual you may be, you’re blessed with a very rich inner world that’s influenced by deep emotions and a vivid imagination. Although you may feel too embarrassed to share your true self and/or beliefs with others, you could use creative outlets as a means of expressing your spiritual insights. Although, you probably keep your artwork close to your chest, too.

Sacrifices and Letting Go

Whether consciously, unconsciously or by accident, you may take the blame for the mistakes and misdemeanours of others. While this can be thought of as kind and selfless behavior, you’re most likely letting yourself down in the process. Everything in life requires balance and we must all take care of ourselves as best as we can without giving too much away or putting ourselves in harm’s way.

Letting go of wrongdoings may be very challenging for you. You feel hard done by. You may feel like you’d be betraying yourself if you forgave those who hurt you without them making it up to you properly. You might also find it hard to forgive yourself for the things you did in the past which caused you grief. You may feel ashamed of the way you treated yourself. If this is the case for you, it may help you to bear in mind that sometimes, we find ourselves in challenging situations in order to learn how to appropriately assert ourselves.

Karmic Debt

Recently, I mentioned to a friend whose daughter has Lilith in the 12th that this placement encompasses karmic debt. She became worried, but if you believe in the existence of karma, you’ll know that we all have karma. It’s unavoidable. The balance of good and “bad” karma is always being calculated. These people, however, may be more prepared to face some of their challenging karma and create more good karma.

Of course, karma isn’t a form of punishment. That’s a rather outdated way of looking at the concept of karma these days. Negative karma comprises challenges that can help you to grow personally and further enlighten you spiritually. As Souls, we want to experience these types of challenges. That’s what we came here for, otherwise we’d just stay on the other side where everything is lovely all the time. Difficult lessons can be a blessing.

As mentioned earlier, you may be more self-sacrificing than most but you could also be more service to others oriented, too. Of course, being too self-sacrificing or service to others won’t help; each of us needs balance in our lives, and we must respect and love ourselves first and foremost so we can give to others from a place of stability, happiness and abundance. If you think you’re giving too much of yourself, you probably are, and in that case, you run the risk of not honouring the divine within you.

Isolation and Escapism

You may experience different kinds of isolation, the most common being totally self-imposed. You may avoid social interactions for personal reasons like social anxiety, fearing people won’t like you, disliking the way others behave, being very sensitive or having low self-esteem. This emotional withdrawal can create a distance between you and others and make you feel alone. You may not be sure how to change the story around this and some of you may not wish to anytime soon. You could be content with keeping your distance from people you don’t know well, which is probably quite wise in today’s world anyway.

Various forms of escapism, like being addicted to TV shows indoors may also cause isolation. Today, there’s so much to stream and people become glued to their devices every night. However pleasurable your form of escapism may be, you may immerse yourself in it so deeply that you accidentally isolate yourself from others and fail to meet new people and create meaningful relationships. You may feel judged and shamed by others for your introverted nature and/or self-imposed seclusion, potentially perpetuating the need to stay away from others.

Hidden Enemies

Self-sabotaging means that at times, you can feel like your own worst enemy. After all, you’d definitely consider someone who sabotages you an enemy! If you’re unhappy with some aspect of your life, you can be too hard on yourself and that can also contribute to feelings of isolation.

Betrayals and deceit are also themes associated with hidden enemies. So someone who you trusted could have exploited your trust in them for their personal gain. Greater discernment may be required when creating new friendships and relationships to avoid the same happening again. But this isn’t to say that you should close yourself off. Absolutely not. Good friendships and connections with good people, even good neighbours, can be very enjoyable.

Institutions and Confinement

You may experience being confined in some kind of institution for a period of time, like a boarding school, and feel ashamed about it for one reason or another. Although, you shouldn’t because many institutions, like schools, exist to serve us.

In the unlikely event that some serious offence was committed and you had a spell in forced isolation, like a cell, the goal of many institutions and its staff would be to help people overcome the negative story which landed them there in the first place. In this sense, a confinement may be viewed as a positive experience. On a deeper level, it may even be personally or spiritually transformative.

Changing the Story

The process of removing negative beliefs involves reprogramming the subconscious mind with positive beliefs. Self-love and self-acceptance is also key to experiencing a more confident and balanced outlook on 12th house themes. Addressing spiritual, emotional, and subconscious aspects of your being can be achieved through self-reflection, meditation, mindfulness, therapy and/or hypnosis. Some people with this position may also be interested in incorporating some alternative healing like Reiki, EFT tapping, QHHT or Spiritual Response therapy (SRT). SRT has helped me enormously with all sorts of issues over the years. The key is to find a genuine, kind and understanding practitioner.

Positive Affirmations

“My imagination knows no bounds,, allowing me to dream big and manifest the beauty and creativity within my Piscean spirit”.

“I trust the process of self-discovery, acknowledging that hidden aspects of myself are powerful catalysts for personal growth and healing”.

“I trust in the wisdom of my intuition, navigating life’s currents with confidence and attracting positive people and energies that align with my deepest desires”.
