Sagittarius in 2nd House: The Wealth of Wanderlust

Personal Wealth

The currency of Sagittarius is freedom. These individuals want to be free to explore the planet, the minds and Souls of others and whatever else this planet has on offer. So having the money to be able to do as they please makes them feel happy and secure. This is what they work towards achieving.

In some cases, making enough money to support a freewheeling lifestyle is tricky. You see, as these natives are so focused on existential matters, making money through conventional means, for example via a 9 to 5, feels laborious. Instead, they would love to receive money easily through a windfall, for instance, or they’d like to do something they love that also affords them lots of freedom, like running an online business.

The latter option is generally more feasible than the first and many people born with Sagittarius or Jupiter in this house often become fabulously successful digital nomads. This includes a friend of mine with this placement who runs a popular blog about solo travel for women. She’s carved a lucrative career out of her passion. And another friend of mine with this placement and a Sagittarius Moon, works from anywhere in the world on her laptop for a medical corporation. She’s always on the go and has seen more places on Earth than I can recall!

You see, Sagittarius cannot possibly stand to be confined to a dull, predictable job so really, the only answer is to not be in one to begin with. And that’s very doable for these people because their attitude towards financial matters is generally very positive. They feel confident about their ability to generate money and know that if they really put their nose to the grindstone, they can accomplish great things — they just have to absolutely love what they’re doing to stick with it and make an income from it.

Saving and investing isn’t so much their forte because they enjoy living more for the day than planning for the future. However, if earth (Taurus, Virgo or Capricorn) is dominant in the chart then they could be more interested in saving. What I will say is that they enjoy seeing an ever expanding bank balance so once they get going, they’ll enjoy seeing the figure grow.

Good luck is strongly associated with this sign so these natives might find the perfect job or investment opportunity just falls into their lap — more than once. Or perhaps they might even win a lot of money or inherit a substantial amount out of the blue. Because they also feel lucky about money and confident in their ability to generate it, they align well with the frequency of abundance and can often deliberately manifest what they want.

Physical Belongings

Their home may contain many items that have interesting background stories they enjoy sharing with others. They feel proud to have so many items with great stories attached to them.

A relation of mine has this placement. She’s amassed an impressive collection of wood carvings from all over the planet, many originating from where she was born and raised in Sudan. She loves talking about how each piece came into her possession and many of the stories she shares about them are incredible.

Unless Leo, Taurus, Capricorn, Cancer or Pisces features heavily in the chart, as deeply as they love their possessions, they can move on from most of them. Only a small collection of things that are very dear to them will follow them around until their last breath.

They enjoy experiencing a turnover of possessions as they move through life and that includes giving away or selling things they no longer need or feel emotionally connected to. Much joy is found in giving away beloved items to those who they know will respect, love and appreciate them.

Like those with Scorpio and Aquarius in the second house, they’re fascinated by otherworldly things like crystals, fossils, and tarot cards and may have started collecting them from a young age. Their home could resemble an Aladdin’s cave, containing an impressive collection of all kinds of shiny, colorful and interesting esoteric items.

They also enjoy spending money on things that further their minds and broaden their understanding of the world like books or events that give them the chance to learn new things and connect with new people.

Stability and Security

Stability and security here are likely to be defined less by traditional means, such as financial security or settled living, and more by intellectual freedom, autonomy, physical freedom and the opportunity to continually expand their horizons.

They absolutely thrive on exploration, learning and philosophical pursuits and need to be able to explore the minds of others when they feel like it. So a meaningless job that ties them to a desk and serves no one other than a faceless corporation or a greedy boss, won’t suit them at all!

In terms of financial security, money and possessions are typically thought of as tools for enabling their freedom. They don’t see accumulating wealth as an end goal but rather as a means to support their larger quest for wisdom, knowledge and experience. So the attitude towards financial stability here can be seen as quite relaxed.

Conversely, having such an adventurous spirit can sometimes create instability in their lives. Saying that, their strong ability to adapt often allows them to navigate changes and uncertainties with vigorous optimism.

Self Worth

They often find their self-worth through their intellectual and spiritual growth, which is most often attained via their interactions, both positive and negative, with others. As an example, they could have suffered in a challenging romantic relationship but once it was over, they came to understand themselves and their ex-partner’s behavior better and learned to appreciate and love themselves more.

I also know someone with this placement who felt compelled to travel abroad one winter after feeling particularly glum. He was offered a job at a bar at the hotel he was staying at in Greece. While working, a series of interesting events propelled him to learn how to deal with others in a balanced way. Years later, he went on to create his own business which eventually made him a very happy and successful businessman.

Their sense of self-esteem is likely to be boosted by their quest for knowledge, their understanding of the world, and their ability to share their wisdom with others. They view their worth not in material possessions, but in their intellectual, spiritual and philosophical wealth.

Personal Values and Ethics

These natives aren’t fans of injustice. They value fairness and equality and hold themselves to a high standard. They also expect others to behave justly and reasonably too. So they can be a little idealistic because, of course, plenty of people behave in unpleasant and unpredictable ways!

They’re likely to view the pursuit of knowledge and wisdom as essential, appreciating both formal education and the learning that comes from personal experiences. This helps to make them open-minded and tolerant, often willing to appreciate and respect different viewpoints and beliefs of all kinds.

Their generosity is indicative of their abundant mindset. Jupiter, the planet of expansion, helps them to enjoy the art of giving and they can be extremely generous — sometimes to the point where they enjoy giving more than receiving. Miserly behavior confuses them and they find it very off-putting.

In extreme cases, and in stark contrast to the above, a negatively oriented individual may be impatient, selfish, tactless, narrow minded and own opinions that are very strong or fixed. They may not see others as worthy of their company because they aren’t intelligent, competent or interesting enough for them.

Skills and Talents

Driven by the wisdom and abundance of Jupiter, Sagittarius’ ruling planet, these individuals excel in intellectual pursuits and challenges. They have a flair for absorbing knowledge quickly, and an exceptional capacity for understanding complex concepts. This is why you often see a lot of Sagittarian types working in Universities.

And because they’re philosophical, they are normally skilled at encouraging their friends and loved ones to view their obstacles and challenges in alternative ways, thus making whatever is plaguing them appear less menacing.

They seem to also have a talent for exploration and travel, often booking trips on a whim to help satisfy their thirst for adventure. They have an uncanny knack for navigating fresh environments, adapting to different cultures and picking up new languages.

Dominant Element

The primary element in your chart can offer enlightening and beneficial insights into your personality traits and overarching life journey when combined with the energy of this house. There are four astrological elements; fire, water, air, and earth.

Fire Dominant

There isn’t much that can stop people with this combination. They’re enthusiastic, vibrant go-getters. Their minds are creative, always in search of new information and sharing that information. They love to enjoy themselves and try new things as often as possible.

They’re driven by a strong will and are known for their confident, assertive and dynamic nature. This fiery energy fuels their actions, decisions and interactions. Their insatiable zest for life and pioneering spirit, make them great entrepreneurs and overall freewheelers who are intent on marching to the beat of their own drum forever.

Eager and willing to explore uncharted territories of thought, they hold freedom, adventure and truth in very high regard and their interesting possessions often reflect these values.

They’re optimistic about money and confident in their ability to produce it. Lucky occurrences and opportunities may be generally par for the course with them and they could become wealthy through unlikely, strange or fun means. Money may also come from abroad somehow, for example, through a foreign lottery jackpot win, inheritance from a relative abroad or employment abroad.

Natives who are overly optimistic and adventurous, and perhaps impulsive, however, can sometimes spend too much or be otherwise reckless with their finances. The key for these individuals is to balance their fire-driven enthusiasm and indulgent energy with a grounded and practical approach to managing their resources.

Earth Dominant

Earth signs are typically dependable, patient and deeply connected to the physical world and usually rather detail oriented, too. They value stability and find entirely practical solutions to their problems. Their earthly energy infuses their actions and decisions giving them a strong sense of responsibility and a pragmatic approach to life.

When mixed with Sagittarian energy, however, these natives are likely to have an adventurous, fiery, optimistic, expansive and philosophical outlook on their wealth and other material resources. They are more likely to be gloriously generous and less likely to hold onto their wealth and possessions as much as someone with an earth sign in the 2nd house.

They understand the value of hard work and are likely to approach their resources with a sense of responsibility and caution. They may also be particularly adept at finding practical ways to make money to live a more autonomous and self-sufficient lifestyle, for example, by remotely running a business. They’re also capable of expanding their resources, using their optimism, gut instinct and the intellectual abilities associated with this zodiac sign.

In terms of personal values, they’re likely to be reliable and practical with a strong desire for ongoing spiritual and intellectual growth. Their values could be a mix of practicality and idealism, and earthly stability and Sagittarian adventure.

Their possessions reflect their pragmatic nature and appetite for other cultures, foreign lands, intellectual and philosophical thinking. They enjoy collecting things and telling people where their prized items come from if the story is interesting enough.

Air Dominant

Natives who are air dominant and have Sagittarius in the 2nd house are curious, sociable and talkative. They have a philosophical, analytical and intellectual approach to personal values, work, personal resources and possessions.

Air dominant types are known for their quick thinking, rationality and prompt adaptability. They value learning new things, intellectual discussion and social interactions. And when airy energy intertwines with the passionate, fiery energy of Sagittarius, it results in a thoughtful and philosophical approach to life that’s characterized by insightful yet occasionally impulsive decision-making and daily interactions.

They tend to examine potential investments every which way before going ahead with anything but sometimes, if something feels exceptionally good to them, they’ll just go with their gut and jump — feet first — into it and think about it later.

Their possessions reflect their learned nature and ethical, measured way of life. They enjoy talking about the most interesting things they own and sharing the details of when and how they acquired them. Sometimes they might overshare or go on for too long, no matter how interested (or uninterested!) the other person may be.

Water Dominant

Water dominant types are profoundly intuitive, empathetic, emotionally and oftentimes, spiritually tuned in. They’re very sensitive and highly imaginative. They’re often inexplicably drawn to examine the hidden depths of things and unpick problems by getting to the root cause of them — especially Scorpio.

These individuals have an adventurous spirit and philosophical outlook in terms of their personal values and earthly resources. Sagittarius, influenced by Jupiter, the planet of abundance, expansion and wisdom, encourages them to view their money, resources and belongings not as an end in themselves, but as a means to facilitate their personal and sometimes, spiritual, growth.

They may make financial decisions based on their feelings and intuition, sometimes leading to unconventional or unorthodox investments. They might be drawn towards spending on experiences or items that cater to their emotional and spiritual needs, possibly investing in art, music, spiritual pursuits or charity.

The belongings they love, they really love because water dominant types can form very powerful and lasting emotional bonds with other things (and people). For example, I have a close friend with this placement and a Pisces Sun and Cancer Moon. She becomes emotionally attached to things quite easily, especially if she finds them sweet or if they were given to her by someone she loves. She keeps them in full view around her home and I know she won’t be parting with them any time soon!
