About Diana
Hi, I’m Diana Zannis and I’m the founder and editor of Stars and Paths. Although my background is in art — I graduated from Central Saint Martins with a BA in graphic design many moons ago — I’ve always been drawn to the stars. I’d often stargaze and wonder what else lies in our galaxy and beyond. So a couple of years ago, I decided set up this website.
I believe that the birth chart is a rough map of the individual’s life although we all have freewill so nothing is set in stone. I especially enjoy analyzing the birth charts of older people as you can often pin point key life events in like when they got married or what type of career they had.
Personally, I enjoy DIY, baking sweet treats and going on long walks in every season. I also very much enjoy guessing people’s Sun signs. I’m a bit of an introvert so running this website has improved my life drastically as it has allowed me to work alone from anywhere (although mainly from home!).

How I Can Help You
It’s my intention that my articles help you to decode your birth chart and ultimately discover much more about yourself and others. I focus exclusively on Western astrology and I only use the Placidus house system.
Astrology can also help you to plan ahead to some degree by knowing when the planets will be in favourable or unfavourable positions — such as when Mercury is in retrograde. The movement of the planets and other celestial bodies in our solar system seem to have the ability to influence us in numerous ways. And I’m here to help you understand what these movements could mean for you.
I’m a member of the Astrological Association and I will shortly be enrolling at the Faculty of Astrological Studies in the UK. My work also occasionally incorporates channelled or intuitive information to provide more in-depth insights.
My Placements
Just in case you’re wondering, my Rising sign is Gemini, my Sun sign is Leo and my Moon sign is Aquarius. I have Mercury and Venus in Virgo and Mars in Scorpio.
Astrology in Today’s World
After being kept hidden from the public for centuries, Astrology was popularised once again in the 1930s. Home and lifestyle magazines hooked predominantly female readers with sensational daily, weekly, monthly and yearly predications based on Sun sign. And while this is still standard practice today, the average person’s understanding of astrology has thankfully evolved.
Today, people know that there’s a great deal more to astrology than the Sun sign. They want to read about their Moon sign, Venus sign, find out how Mercury is aspected in their chart, what houses their personal planets are in, and so on. And that’s one of the reasons I created this website — to assist readers with their journey of self-discovery through astrology.
If you’re interested in reading about the history of astrology, The True History of Sun Sign Astrology by Kim Farnell is definitely worth a read. For more great books, please take a look at my FAQs page which includes my recommended reading list.
Mission Statement
“Capricorns are heartless penny-pinchers hell-bent on amassing wealth and climbing the social ladder (in their pristine Gucci loafers, of course). Aquarians are aloof, strange, and wildly unpredictable. Pisceans are naive perpetual dreamers incapable of living in the real world. And Scorpios are argumentative and volatile”.
Even those with a vague interest in astrology will probably be familiar with such generalisations about the zodiac signs. For as far back as they can recall, they were bombarded with them in glossy magazines and tabloid newspapers.
Yet, as humorous as such generalizations often are, I believe that they can hurt the credence of astrology because they perpetuate misinformation. They encourage skeptics to surmise that if astrology were true, everyone would exhibit the traits associated with their star sign (Sun sign) and people’s personalities would fall into one of twelve categories.
So, for example, all Leos would be proud and attention seeking but also creative, warm-hearted and playful. Yet many Leos don’t fit this this exact picture because we’re all a mix of different signs. Additionally, we have free-will, come from different backgrounds, and so on.
Looking only at the Sun sign is like looking at a fraction of a puzzle because it comprises a mere sliver of the birth chart. One of my biggest aims is to raise awareness of this truth and encourage a deeper understanding of astrology as a whole.
