Black Moon Lilith in 5th House: Forbidden Creativity
The 5th house explore themes like creative expression, hobbies, dating, relationships, and children. With natal Lilith being in the 5th house, some challenges may arise in the areas of life associated with it. Should there be any issues, they can always be worked on, and then these areas can become some of the most blessed in the lives of the natives.
Creativity and Hobbies
Your creativity may have always felt somewhat quashed — either through conscious or unconscious self-sabotage or via negative feedback from others. Perhaps when you were growing up you were often told that creativity is pointless as very few people are successful in creative careers and end up being living in poverty. The starving artist trope springs to mind here, and maybe that’s what you were worried about becoming if you followed your dreams.
The source of these claims could have thought that they had their best interests at heart by warning them off pursuing a creative career.
At some point during the course of their lives they may have attempted to pursue a creative career or certain creative hobbies but failed. For example, despite desiring to become an artist they found it challenging to produce enough good work even though they knew that they are talented and capable. Frustration and disappointment inevitably arises and they might decide to give up rather early on.
Some of these people may feel as if they have missed out on carving out a creative career path or indulging in a creative hobby, but it’s never too late to start something new! These days, however, many creative people find tremendous success with the help of the Internet and social media platforms like YouTube, TikTok, and Instagram. There are droves of people over fifty who are only now finding success with their creative endeavors thanks to online exposure!
Creative blocks may be present as a result of the beliefs they picked up as they were growing up. Once these have been removed, they may find that their creativity begins to emerge because they feel more confident about expressing it and find more pleasure in creative pursuits.
A desire to be more creative could be prevented by an unfounded fear of exposing their emotional inner nature and self-doubt. They could intuitively feel blocked from creative pursuits like illustrating, playing a musical instrument, writing poetry, dancing and so on.
Affairs of the Heart and Relationships
Relationships with people who they are deeply attracted to never quite seem to last despite their best efforts. In some cases, the relationships they have are filled with fiery, dramatic interactions as well as difficult dynamics that leave them feeling drained and confused. In other cases, they may feel dominated by their partner and eventually feel the need to break free for the sake of their sanity and overall wellbeing.
In some cases, if they find it too hard to maintain a passionate relationship, they might settle for a partner who doesn’t necessarily set their heart on fire but who is loyal, reliable, and predictable. However, this is only after they have exhausted every possible chance, in their minds, of finding someone who they feel passionately about.
Sometimes, no matter what the relationship looks like, they could find themselves trapped in it. They might feel unable leave because of a joint mortgage, shared children, or other reasons. Some may even fear how their partner could reacts they choose to stay despite being unhappy.
Rarely, they may find that their love life feels superficial because the people they attract are vain and a bit narcissistic and their interactions with them feel shallow and contrived. Some love affairs they have may be painful because they often feel more strongly about the other person than they do about them. Of course, this may not always be the case — a lot of people hide or suppress their true feelings about others for many different reasons. It’s just the way it feels to them, and it’s heartbreaking and disappointing.
There may be trouble asserting themselves in their relationships and in the bedroom. They may also feel unattractive and inadequate even if in reality, they look perfectly fine. If they are highly sexual, they feel that they need to look and feel attractive all the time but struggle to do so. Flirting and seduction are a big part of what makes them feel alive as it bolsters their self esteem.
Children and Parenthood
With Lilith in the 5th, these natives may experience some challenges centred around children. On the one hand, these individuals may deeply desire children but don’t have them for one reason or another.
On the other hand, they may thoroughly dislike children but some could find themselves having them around anyway. For instance, a close friend with this placement has never wanted children but her sister has four and she is frequently called to watch them.
If they have children, their relationship with them may be challenging in one way or another. Although they may be very warm, loving, bright and dynamic people, they may also be stubborn, overly dramatic, or self-centred. They may also be prone to taking big risks especially with money — their own and other people’s. They probably find themselves worrying about them quite a lot.
Their children could have extremely different views and beliefs to their parents and fail to accept them or vice versa. Life at home may have been very difficult with the people within the household feeling quite isolated.
Leisure Time
These people may be very ill at ease with the idea of leisure time. They tend to find it very difficult to let go and relax. This could be for reasons even they can’t identify or perhaps because they feel as if they don’t deserve time off.
Even enjoying themselves in the confines of their own home by doing things for themselves such as having self-care days or reading an interesting book could feel too indulgent or a waste of time rather than pleasureful. In some cases, almost any leisure time may feel more like a threat than a pleasure. They may by totally unable to relax and instead feel compelled to continue working, even if it’s housework.
Some of these people feel terribly guilty about taking time off. Parents may feel particularly guilty about enjoying time away from their children. They might have even been raised to feel ashamed for being away from them or raised to believe that it’s wrong.
Speculation
Getting involved in risky ventures, even if they are very costly, could be thrilling for them but they may go overboard and become hooked or drain their finances. This can be particularly devastating if they have dependants total care of like a partner or children. So, although they might be very enthusiastic about investing, a cautious approach is usually best.
In some cases, they might be totally against taking risks of any kind, including ones most people must take such as marriage, having children or buying a home. They may worry excessively about losing in some way and decide to avoid risks in any area of life. Taking some chances, however, could result in great improvement of their lives. For instance, having a wonderful partner who they can go on all kinds of adventures with could prove very fulfilling.
Some of these people may feel inherently unlucky. Perhaps some people in their family tree were generally unlucky in life or they suffered financially. Of course, in reality no one is more lucky than anyone else. Personally, I think luck boils down to the subconscious beliefs someone holds, although astrologically speaking, there may be more auspicious times to start new ventures and take leaps of faith.
Sports and Athleticism
Even from a young age, they may have absolutely loved sports — watching sports on TV and in person at events, reading about sports. They may have liked anything and everything to do with sports but strangely, they didn’t actually participate in sports activities themselves. Something may have happened when they were young to put them off, for example, they could have been bullied for their performance or their parents put too much pressure on them to win and they crumbled under it.
Another possibility is that they did participate in sporting activities when they were growing up, especially at school, but they were incredibly competitive because they feared losing. In other cases they disliked sports altogether and avoided anything to do with them but this was merely down to personal preference. Not everyone likes sports, of course. Even if someone has a Leo Sun sign, they may not be particularly enthusiastic about them.
Others might enjoy participating in them at different stages of life if they feel they are safe enough. Some of these individuals have an aversion to sports because they fear potential physical injury. While it’s possible to be physically injured while playing sport, it’s unlikely and, of course, the risk varies from sport to sport.
If they feel safer not participating, that might be best for them. If they would like to take up a sporting activity, they might want to pick one that has a lower risk of injury and is low impact, such as swimming, golf, walking, or rowing. They might find that with enough time and practice, they do really well in their choice of sport.
Self Expression
Their self-expression could have been hindered in some way from a young age but also later in life. As I mentioned earlier, they find it hard to relax and enjoy themselves and we tend to express ourselves more effectively and authentically when we are at ease. If there is an ability to relax and drop one’s guard, then there may be an issue with how one expresses oneself.
Communicating their thoughts and feelings to others may be challenging because they worry about how they will be received. When they were young, they may have experienced poor responses to their wants and needs. They might have even been shouted at or ridiculed for when they tried articulate their needs or set a boundary. When they were older, they may have had a series of partners who weren’t interested listening to their requirements, even if they tried over and over again to communicate them.
Those with Lilith in the 5th who are emotionally sensitive might have feared tried to express their authentic selves, including their creative abilities, for fear of being dismissed, shamed, or judged. I have a cousin with this placement who is a highly sensitive person (HSP). He is timid at times and often too frightened to tell people what he is really thinking and feeling because he expects them to react badly and hurt him emotionally. This fear has pushed him into a self-censorship mode, hindering the free flow of his ideas.
Performance and Showmanship
Some of these people may desire a career in the performing arts. From a young age, they may have set their sights on becoming an actor, dancer, singer to name a few. However, at the same time they may have felt ashamed of wanting to be famous. Maybe they were told by an influential person such as a parent or teacher that it would make them look vain or narcissistic or that they were unlikely to fulfill their ambition. Either way, they may have been discouraged from a career in the limelight or they may have prevented themselves from having one through self-doubt.
About Black Moon Lilith in Astrology
Although the interpretations of Black Moon Lilith are many and varied, all of them point to it indicating our most significant challenges in life. The house that it is posited in is widely recognised as showing the avenues of life that one may experience their greatest challenges. The zodiac sign that it is in instead shows their most challenging personality traits and qualities.
Despite there being a total of three Liliths in astrology, Black Moon Lilith seems to be the most popular one. The other two are rarely discussed and widely considered as less important by many astrologers, including myself. Only one of the Liliths, which is simply called ‘Lilith’ is a physical celestial body, an asteroid. The remaining two – Black Moon and Dark Moon, are hypothetical mathematical points in space.
Interestingly, some astrologers don’t pay any attention to the BML when reading a birth chart. Personally, I think there is much to be gained by becoming aware of your biggest life challenges and tackling then. Our biggest challenges can then become some of our greatest strengths by being given the chance to bloom.
Awareness is the first step toward healing the themes associated with the 5th. If the issues that arise within these areas of life are tackled, those with this placement might find that they begin to do very well in them. Changing the story around the themes of the 5th involve healing and self-love. With an increase in the amount of self-love we have for ourselves, we can feel more deserving of the fun things in life such as love, romance, relationships, and leisure time.
Some alternative healing modalities like meditation, mindfulness, Reiki and other forms of energy healing as well as the use of positive affirmations may help.
Positive Affirmations
I’ve included some positive affirmations below which are should ideally be repeated with belief at least once a day for a few weeks — or until you feel they’ve taken root.
